Buy a bloody membership.

Yes but if you do not consider yourself an honest supporter & don't want to buy one, sure - exercise the right mentioned by 79V

But don't crap on about it - that's all I'm trying to say

Everybody should buy their membership if they can afford to.

Have been following the blues for over 55 years and have never been more ashamed of my fellow supporters of the CFC - The Mighty Blues and particulalrly posters on TC and TBV I have no regets in renewing my 4 memberships and will go on doing so as long as Mrs Acudoc, Dongatwitch and Harri want to see our club play the best football they can manage. Sure there are obviously problems on the ground and maybe off the ground. We would all be better if some posters stopped throwing their dummies and rattles out of their prams to get attention from the rest of us. Obviously Kinder is still in recess.

now, while i agree with you all, and i spent $700 on membership for my father and myself on saturday.

its a two way street.

i will always buy my membership (finances permitting - im building a 320k house and my membership is a luxury) but while i can afford it i will get it.

however, its a two way street.

yes, lets all get memberships,

however i refuse to accept what was dished up on saturday.

It was the worst game i have ever seen. and im not exagerating.

and ive seen some of the bigger ones (against richmond last year, against north a few years back)

but yesterdays was the worst by far. when he have so much to play for, to get beaten like that, there is something terribly wrong with it all and forget pleading to fans, i dont want excuses.

hell, i dont expect to win every game, and i could even handle if we lost every game of the year, if i saw a carlton side trying everything they can to win - i didnt see anything remotely like that yesterday and that is the most frustrating aspect of it all.

yes, lets all get our membership, but in return i expect the same effort coming from the players and coaching staff.

what i witnissed on saturday was far from that.

I'll buy a membership of course. I hope i will not be throwing my money down the toilet though.

I wanna at least seem some guts and commitment from the players and that's all we should accept as supporters!

Perspective Prez. Saturday was a practice match.

Let's not forget that.

I can understand the correlation of membership bought and expectations of player performance. But now, more than ever, the distinction needs to be made that these are two separate issues.

Simple question: Do you want to support the club?

If you answer yes to this question, and can afford it, then buy a membership. It's pretty simple. As valid as wanting to criticse performances and so on may be, forgoing memberships based on the team's performance only serves to hurt the club more than a bunch of nonnies putting in a sub-par performance on any given weekend.

The club needs you. The players don't. There is a clear difference. Without memberships there is no club.

Think about that next time you're pissed off at the team's performance.

Moreover, spitting the dummy and making a song and dance about cancelling your membership probably has very little effect on the playing group. The anger is being directed at the wrong people. By all means have your say at the team's performances, but there are better ways to do it than having a big sook and cancelling your membership.

bollocks mate, @#$%&! that "it was a practise match"

this time of the year, if you have players that arent going at it at 110% trying to do everything they can - then we are in more trouble than any of us here can suggest.

sorry, we where next to a full list, no ifs or buts, the team that took the field on saturday will almost be 100% of the team that takes the field come the 1st rounds.

if players arent fully fit - dont play them.

i hate to do it, but i find myself agreeing with synbad at the moment, and i rarely do. we are in a very dangerous position at the moment, and the fact that we can have a team smashed by a 100 points, is very concerning.

the thing that i think is missing is this

1. playing for the jumper - these blokes have got to understand that everytime they done the jumper - they are expected to give 100%, practive match or no practise match.

that is all i ever want from a team that i follow - win, lose or draw, if they team i follow has given everything i will back them to the hilt.

i didnt feel like that on saturday - and i am normally a very very positive person with regards to the way i support.

While I will be getting to see very few games live this year, if any. I have still ponied up for my memberships. Why? Because I have great affection for the club that has brought me great joy and happiness over the years. And if I cannot help her out while she is down and struggling, then all that joy and happiness was not worthwhile. In short I owe the club far more than it owes me.

Our current problems are transitionary and eventually we will be celebrating great wins and success once again. So when you are celebrating this success, do it in the knowledge that you were there when you were needed most. It will taste all the sweeter if you do.

Peace and happiness

Mark

If you are p1ssed off at how the club is being run then buy a membership, enact your right to vote and put who you want in charge of changing things via the democratic process at the AGM.

I understand people's angst though, I kind of feel like I'm going through the motions. Membership pack is paid for and on the way but I cant say I'm rushing to check the mailbox every day! I guess this is where we, the supporters, dig deep and pay the club back for all of those years of success.

So what happens if we bash WC next week by 100 points?

Should I dash out and get odds for the premiership?

Can you list our last ten practice match results?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't rate practice match results in the least.

Yeah its emotional and all that

but unhappily

the team from the weekend will not be the team that we will take into Round 1. I was happy with team selection on the weekend coz there were alot of kids in it, heaps and heaps. Pagan is like Parkin and he will pick more older players in Round 1. I thought he was giving us what we wanted until it all blew up in his face. Russ, harts, Blackers, Setanta, Murph probably wont play in the same team again for the year.

The sad bit is the kids wre the better players!

again, i have no qualms with what any of you are saying.

ive been a SC member since 98 or there abouts and money permitting will be a member for the rest of my life.

but with a commitment like that from the 30k members we have, i expect a better effort on the field. is that too much to ask?

win, lose or draw, aslong as they play hard and give it everything i will walk away happy.

are we getting that at the moment? IMO - no, and i dont care if its a practise match or not, i expect full commitment from everyone involved. they want mine, i want theirs in return.

I reckon you're up the wrong tree with playing hard.

I reckon we were completely outcoached. Port always had numbers around the ball. You cant tackle two opponents at once. I reckon the spirit is there (was there?) but we just couldnt make it work. I reckon we lost in the box.

Lil' Miss Wojee and myself will be renewing.

If you don't want to renew, that's fine. I don't know why you expect special attention for it though. Perhaps contacting the club and sensibly expressing to them why you're declining to renew would be more effective than calling a radio station who don't actually give a toss except for the fact that they use you to milk a story.
