Last year on 3AW, Gary Lyon laughed at the proposal that he'd coach Carlton and said he wouldn't take on an uncompetitive, bottom of the ladder team like the Blues.

It says loads about his character or his intelligence or both - you be the judge.

Says alot about our coaches character as well because he did take it on.

Gary Lyon doesn't have the guts to leave his cushy 6 figure salaried job now to take on a coaching role.

The Tim Watson experiment put paid to any coach attaining a Senior AFL Coaching role without doing an Assistant Coach Apprenticeship.

Gary Lyon is hardly going to leave his cushy media job to take on an Assitant Coach role (at around $100,000pa).

I've heard he is very good with the players at Richmond especially teaching their kids transition of the footy. He has a pretty big role down at the Tigers with Wallace doing a lot of promoting and media duties. We all know he is determined because he has applied for every senior job available the last 6 or 7 years.
Don't have to be a big name player to be a good coach.
