Last year on 3AW, Gary Lyon laughed at the proposal that he'd coach Carlton and said he wouldn't take on an uncompetitive, bottom of the ladder team like the Blues.

It says loads about his character or his intelligence or both - you be the judge.

Says alot about our coaches character as well because he did take it on.

Gary Lyon doesn't have the guts to leave his cushy 6 figure salaried job now to take on a coaching role.

The Tim Watson experiment put paid to any coach attaining a Senior AFL Coaching role without doing an Assistant Coach Apprenticeship.

Gary Lyon is hardly going to leave his cushy media job to take on an Assitant Coach role (at around $100,000pa).

Here is a list:

Allan Jeans
Danny Frawley
Francis Bourke
Jeff Gieschen
John Northey
Kevin Bartlett
Mike Patterson
Paul Sproule
Robert Walls
Terry Wallace
Tony Jewell

All the Richmond coaches since 1980.

Lets at least give Pagan another year, he has barely had 1-2 to do anything as it is. Or we could go down the Richmond path.

ya can't have terry wallace on that list - everyone knows you're not a real Tigers coach until you've been sacked!

I've heard he is very good with the players at Richmond especially teaching their kids transition of the footy. He has a pretty big role down at the Tigers with Wallace doing a lot of promoting and media duties. We all know he is determined because he has applied for every senior job available the last 6 or 7 years.
Don't have to be a big name player to be a good coach.

The crippling debt that we already owe the bank is probably less than a weekly appearance fee for "the special one".

What we need is to get Roman Abrahmovic interested in AFL. A big injection of corrupt russian oil billions would do wonders for the balance sheet!!! After all, we are Australia's version of 'the blues'.

Look if the price is right, I'll do it.
You'll have to lure me out from the Sunshine Coast, but for the team, I'll do it.
Regards Pedro.
