On the farewell to Optus Oval DVD, Alex says something along the lines of really regretting leaving Carlton to go to St Kilda. I love seeing past players with an obvious passion for the club.

If you haven't got the DVD ask for it as a birthday present. It is only for Carlton supporters.

Good on him for the hall of fame honour. Does he have any sons?

Alex was a teriffic player for Carlton of only very slight build but with extreme pace and huge courage.

Played in 3 Premierships (79, 81 & 82).

Would always be taken off on a stretcher when we played Essendon*, no thanks to snipers like Stephen Carey.

Used to stand with his family in the forward pocket in front of the Robert Heatley Stand.

Alex is one a true gentlemen and still has time for a conversation and says hello whenever you happen to bump into him.

Congratulations Alex.

Used to be a great fan of Alex Marcou and used to have his number on my duffle coat as a boy....and as far as I can tell the last person of Greek Cypriot descent to make an impact in the sporting world before Marcos Bagdahtis! :)

Would that make Alexander the Great a Cypriot too?

(BTW, if you ever get a chance, look up a bloke called Daicos - apparently he wasn't too bad a sportsman too, and as Cypriot as Marcel......)

As a boy I always thought he was Cypriot. Probably someone in my family misled me. They'll claim anyone as Cypriot... last I heard they were trying to claim Kieren Perkins, Ian Thorpe and Cathy Freeman!

Aphrodite was a Cypriot...

Marcou tells some wonderful stories about being given money by StKilda while he retired from footy after Carlton...

As a matter of fact all those blokes do!!!

Will always be remembered for being super quick and super skilled.. but not a very good tackler!!!..

Top bloke!!!!

Still around the club when he can.. and loves it dearly!!!
