Why do you say that? Surely if we hadn't of gotten Saddington we would have drafted another kid?

But at the moment he doesn't represent the club, he only wants to. And I'd rather hear his full opinions, whether jusitified or not, than some well crafted answer. I think that makes it easier to make an informed opinion about the guy.

I reckon he did the right thing.
Nuber one he is on the front foot.. and we as a club are always on the back foot.
Secondly.. it doesnt matter about the particulars of the Saddington situation.. to me Lee is just pointing out how as a club we always have a bet each way but no clear strategy.

The Saddington thing just highlights this for me.

IIRC at the time of aquiring Saddington Pagan said we were not going to use the pick

Who is the last board member from Sydney who publicly discussed football department philosophies.
Or Essendon* or Collingwood or Brisbane?

People are voted on to the board to bring skills we are deficient in.
Greg Lee has a great skill at marketing and HR.
That is what we are requiring from him.
Hopefully he gets a spot on the board and improves our position.

However, yes unless the board nominate him as a person to make public comment, I expect him to "keep his mouth shut about the goings on of the footy club"

Fine you want another silent mute on the board and I want someone who is willing to ask questions. You don't have to vote for him.

BV.. he still has to win an election to be on that board and the only way you can win an election if youre out there talking footy.

I think once in Lee will be more at home in the marketing commitee rather than the nuts and bolts of the footy side.

But people want to know what his philosophies are.. rightly or wrongly.

Im just glad we have a guy coming through who is on the front foot with all this.

On the other hand i just saw yet another Lvazza full page add in the Epicure of the Age today.. do this every week for a year and you should have plenty of clout with the Age....

Do we????

Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh......

Ok, that rings a bell now it's been mentioned, but I find that strange, any ideas as to the reasoning behind it?

'I just think it's a bit rich for you to expect these guys to give up their spare time to sit on the board and then tell them to keep their mouth's shut about the going ons of the footy club.' it was this part of The Game's response I was answering.

Do you have a problem reading?

1. I want people who will speak up on the board and have stated so repeatedly.

2. This is a media interview, not a board meeting, do you see the difference?

3.I have stated that I will vote for him.

Try actually reading and absorbing what someone writes instead of making ill informed assumptions.
I have said that he will be great value to the board and I will vote for him.

I however dont believe he does himself any favours talking about football department issues. OK?

What's he supposed to say in a media interview?

Interviewer: "What do you think about the way the club is headed on field?"

Lee: "No comment"

F$%^ I can see all the Carlton members saying this is our man.

Good points Synbad.
As I have stated repeatedly, I think Greg Lee sounds good and will be great value.
As you know, I having been pushing for new blood on the board and football department as much as anyone.

In saying that, I would rather Greg had not made comments on football matters.
Had he answered

"My area of specialty is A,B and C and I believe I can improve the Carlton Football Club greatly in these areas. I'll leave the drafting to the football department and judge them on their actions"

Would you have thought any less of him?

Had he been given another opportunity, he may have not made the comment. I dont know.

I do agree that its good to see someone getting on the front foot and if Greg Lee can improve the boards performance, I'm all for him.

I heard the interview and agree that he sounds OK. Seems to me that everybody is in agreement on this issue.

The draft issue discussed, oh well, really not a biggie, I can't understand why everybody is slamming each other even when they are 90% in agreement. It would be nice if the tone on TC could be a little more friendly sometimes.....

I give up.
I can only hit my head against the wall so many times. :)

Yes, I agree Mikkey.
He sounds like he brings something we have been lacking for a long time.
