Not sure what you mean by that, but I don't think you'll find too many A-grade winners who do not believe they can win, or talk negatively about their abilities or chances.
It is widely accepted now that a positive mindset and belief can improve performance. Just as "mental" practice (i.e. all in the head) can actually improve performance of physical skills, if done correctly. Even Barassi knew 30 years ago that only "
pefect practice makes perfect".
For example, endless criticism of a player for being soft is unlikely to provide improvement. However, accepting that it is an issue and working on ways forward to deal with it can lead to improvement.
