We have won 10 out of 12 quarters of football this season...

We have had no blowouts this season...

Gotta be happy with that!! 8)

yep Tex's first half was great. I was hoping we'd try him forward after half time cos it looked as if he might be the one with the spark to ignite us. I am happy with him playing down back but this game needed something different from us, Tex at CHF might just have been it. Good three games from the kid.

Betts was fantastic

Lance did the number on Hall, which was even better.

Murph, Simpson, AB played very well.

Highlight was Murphs absolutely perfectly weighted kick to a leading Fevola who goaled from almost 60 mtrs in the last quarter. Priceless.

Murphy - the pass to Fev highlighted the difference between players with skill like him and Stevens and others who continually butcher it when they go forward. Could have bombed the ball long but had the poise to deliver to Fev.

Just so no one fires off at you, I'm pretty sure you're coupling Stevens and Murphy in that sentence and putting everyone else in the other category.

Bit harsh though, Eddie and Houlihan are usually spot on at that, along with Lappin and Waite (sigh).

We were 5 goals down at one stage & as with last week, could have been headed for a blow out, but we stuck at it. No blow outs this year so far!

As with the Melb game, great to see the leading possession getters dominated by the younger guys, with Murphy showing the way in only his 3rd game & all class, great football brain, 12 were contested.

Betts lively & 11 contested possessions. Interesting that Carlton had 4 of the top 5 contested possession getters (Murphy, Betts, Kouta, Houla). Swans had the top 5 uncontested!

Stevens better- kicked 2 classy goals, also 8 tackles.

And for all those who think Lance can't mind a man- great job on Hall!

Great 1st half from Walks, who I thought up to half time was outstanding. Had a reasonable 2nd half too.

Didn't actually touch the ball in the second half.

Game 3 Murph is our leading possession winner - unbelievable for a 18 year old kid

Looking the AFL's stats for Lance and Hall, bar the goal you'd reckon they'd been swapped around, I saw Lance mark the ball more than twice.

i thought Fev was real good tonight, never gave up, showed some physical presence, never should have got reported ... he will get off and gave it everything and still kicked 3 goals despite getting little opportunity.

Murphy is going to be a superstar, and i was impressed with Bentick, Betts and Simmo

How much is there to like about young Marc Murphy...

How good has the team's heart been so far this season...

Fevola's attack, chasing and spirit during games first rate...

Whitnall's good form down back...

The steady improvement across the board amoungst our young kids...

Now, isn't all of this making pleasant reading...If everyone "Carlton" were to think positively about our club then perhaps positive results may transcend...You'd be surprised!...

So give it a go!...And please, feel free to add to the above list...

There IS a lot to be liked about Carlton... :-D

I think that the best positive is that we let a team get a 5 goal break on us and not one single player let their heads drop.

Other than a few patches of play, where we disposed badly, every player, to a man, put in, and had good solid games at worst, and great ones in some cases.

My favourites:

Lance - Did a great job on Hall. Got him riled, and sent him chasing kicks at HBF.
AB, Carrots, Simmo - hard, gutsy players, and their use of the ball just gets better
Smurf - What more can I say?
Archie - Solid in marking contests. Was it 6? Keep the gloves!!
Fev - Struggled with all the attention, but just kept trying.
Eddie - Excitement machine!

Deluca had the dukes a rocking tonight :-D

The nucleus of our next finals team is really developing a great attutitude to play for each other. We will learn alot from the last 15mins of the game when we let Sydney chip it around.

Another positive is we don't have to watch Sydney play again unless you choose otherwise.

Fev will go for at least two if not four. Don't expect any favours from the tribunal.

I agree with all the positives mentioned. A couple of worrying signs with Kouta. Third game in a row where he has had no impact.

The other worry is how we allow teams to gang up on Fev. At one point in the second quarter, he was up against 6 swans. I don't blame him for spitting the dummy with that sort of set up. We were too negative with too many blokes behind the ball. I can't understand how accepting we are to zone off and give up huge amounts of territory. Did the coaching staff watch how Port mangled the Swans last week? I'm sure they did, so why did we play that ultra negative crap for the entire first half?

It was our young guys that swung the momentum back in our favour. Bentick, Betts, Simmo, Carrots and Murph really stepped up a gear and killed them at the clearances.

McLaren did well, and Whitnall was sensational on Hall.

When we got that run-on in the third quarter, the crowd lifted and it was awesome!

Kouta looked okay up forward and at least presented a secondary target up forward. Kicked a handy goal in the third.

Another positive is that there is no "negatives" thread yet.

Great stat, Willie!

It would be a great stat if it was correct.

The fact is we have won 6 , drawn 2 and lost 4. Which in truth should have provided us with more than 1 win.
