That was absolutely pathetic football from the worst team to win a premiership, in my time following the game. And to think I was actually barracking for them in the Grand Final

I agree entirely, the bit that pisses me off the most is that after Saturday night we should have at least have been able to gloat and say that that style of footy will never win them a premiership. Unfortunately it already has.
An absolute indictment on the game of footy.

On the other side of the coin, I too spent a large portion of the game screaming at the telly to "man up, for God's sake...!"

Way to go champ

6696 of those - now that's quality posting! 'Way to go champ' to you my friend!

I didn't physically boo or cheer, I was actually screaming at the lazy players who lost us the game for not manning up.

I applaud the coaches are able to find their own little clever strategy that ensures their team gets over the line - im yet to see Dennis' winning strategy!

As mentioned previously, the only way to stop teams from playing football this way is to punish them! The way we played was basically a statement to the other 14 teams to play keepings off as well - you know the blues won't man up!

THAT'S WORTH BOOING AT!

It really makes you think.

Looks like I might need to resurrect my "There's only one "n" in Denis" sig too.

As stated we did get them to kick to a contest but we failed to then get the ball or when we did we gave it back to them.

Yes we did not man up well last night but then i thinlk this game was lost a) selection table and b) when lappin went down and when we persisted with Tex in the backline.

At the selection table with the loss of Waite and Fisher I am not sure what we could have done but we need at least a runner and at least a tall forward who could provide a real contest down our spine. Archie did well against the swannies but Archie cannot be our go through man he leads wide, he has the turning circle of the Ark and he is one sided.

I wish we had played Livo at CHF last night, think he may have competed enough for us to pressure their backs. I would have liked Blackers in, not fast but smart. Sporn had two kicks and both times he took so long to do something with the ball the swannies had set up camp.

Then Lappo goes down and any chance we had of having a mobile forward line went fffffft, like a flat tyre. I think Denis should have moved Tex into the foreward line, he chases, harsses and he can compete in the air. Again tex may have helped us pressure the backs. In stead Fev was forced to do a lot of chasing but that meant when he got the ball he was out of position and we held it up and then they got back.

Plus with lappo goin' down and playing three ruckmen (DeLuca plays forward but in terms of a tank for chasing etc he is a ruckman) we ran out of the legs to really harass.

Still the boys ar eplayin passionate football and the centre square is a hell of a lot better and without Campo's soft receives a lot more of the kids are working their butts off.

And despite all this we had our chances. Those 2 they kick in the third at the end hurt big time. Plus our turnovers - oh the day I don't say 'plus our turnovers'!

In defence of Dennis :P O'Loughlin was threatening to end the game early for us so he had no choice to play Thornton back.
Thornton did go forward for a very short time before they had to bring him back.

Woojee and crazycahn dont make too much of my little 'boo' and 'cheer' concoction, it was purely to make a point!

I don't believe we manned up well, we most certainly didn't man up well when it mattered most - 7mins to go and 7pts the difference. I really cant understand that!

At the moment, I'm not a man with solutions. I believe we still lack a bit of talent - talent that will be gained either in future drafting or exceptionally good development.

I mentioned earlier that my mates - St.Kilda and Geelong supporters - feel they don't need to accept mediocrity, so neither should I.

I want to see the Carlton of 1995 and I don't see why Carlton - one of the proudest clubs - should accept anything less.

Agree that loss of Waite, Fish and Lappo really killed us.
