he should have played more last year, and the first 3 rounds of this year as well.

if he doesnt' play every game this year, Smorgon should get the sack

This pseudo-intellectual "is he ready or not ready" debate is about as stimulating and engaging as plucking my nose hairs....

Its an 90% psychological/management issue, and a 10% physical one. As there is about 2% informed posters on this site, I cringe when I enter or (invariably) start these threads.

OBJECTION VOICED

Well I was happy with my mans performance tonight. Didn't set the world on fire from a possession point of view, but was great at the one percenters, especially taking down Egghead in that tackle on the wing. Probably needs to be stronger on the ball and invest in some new footwear. Looking forward to watching him develop more as the season progresses, at least 10-15 games this year in the seniors.

Looked alright and have to agree with Synbad on this one, we have to play guys like RUssell and play them all year! On his game tongiht, needs to keep his feet more and run alot harder and faster at contests. But he needs to get the feel first and the more time he gets the better he'll be. THat being said i will be extremely frustrated if he gets dropped this week, it will have made this game a complete waste of time!

I thought he continually fell over, missed a few tackles and looked lost at ball ups...but i think we need to persist with Russell because when he does get the pace of AFL his positive attributes will be important for our side.

That goal that Osborne kicked in the last when Jordan a) didn't go to the intitial contest and b) didn't stay with his man and then c) didnt' get out of a jog the whole time when osborne ran into an open goal - shows why he has a LOT to learn as to what it takes to be a senior footballer. He did enought to show he can be a long term player. But he should be dropped for that effort. And he should be told exactly why he is being dropped. It's just not on.

We need to persist with him. Remember that he is taking the place of Sporn or Chambers - I would go with JR every week over those two!!

I think he'll make it but he didn't look ready to me.

Needs to keep his feet more but what young kid doesn't.

I don't care about him falling over. Shit like that happens. The failure to make a contest and then chase was just weak. He needs to learn a lesson. A quick trip to the two's will do that.

Nice cameos from him tonight. Didn't look out of place. It would be good if they can find a way of keeping him in the team for 3-4 weeks.
