you've gotta wonder what the idea of ultra defensive at the start of the game is all about though. to me it is like conceding that we can't win the game before it even starts. couldn't be doing much for our kids' collective confidence. the ultra defensive method maybe preventing an avalanche, but it sure isn't attractive football. and it sure as hell aint gonna win too many games. why not start backing our kids to get the job done. as someone else suggested its all well and good for a few to drop back to help out, but is it really necessary for the entire forward line to be backward of centre? if they feel the need, drop barnaby back to fill some space, even drop a couple of the mids back and have the HFF move into the midfield, but any more than this isn't necessary. concentrate more on midfield pressure. this is how the good sides create turnovers in their backlines. put pressure on the opposition mids kicking into F50. this in turn makes the kick in less likely to be pin point and a bit more floatey thus allowing our backs to have better spoiling opportunities.

and for god's sake, tell some of these boys in the backline that a good backline works together as a unit, not as 6 individuals just worried about their 6 direct opponents. DP very rarely cops criticism in the media, and then in a forum situation, anyone questionning his coaching gets made to look like they are an over-reacting buffoon. well i'm afraid DP is not above reproach or criticism, and quite frankly many of these posters are on the right track, even if they don't quite back up their "pagan is shit" claims.

yeah but then if your not winning not many people get memberships aswell and people dont go to watch games etc

At the moment you'd have to pay him out over 2 mil, that's a fair few memberships. Won't happen.
It'd beat the crap out of being crap for the next few years. Short term pain for long-term gain. The man's past it well and truly. Could not agree with the original poster of this thread more.

by the way - seeings how we are cash flow negative, who pays out Pagan's contract.

Just a small matter too consider as well.

Could be done actually IF we really wanted to actually. ie an edict from the new president for a restructure of the football department. Michell (already on the payroll) becomes match day coach and pagan's coaching role is shifted to conditioning throughout the week. I doubt that would breach the contract in place as he would still be paid and still a 'coach'. Not likely to happen though.

On pagans coaching - good to see him change his ways so far this season but I dont like the flooding. Much rather see us go 1 on 1 from the outset and back our players to win the contested ball

14 . 9 sounds so much better than 9 14. Can the coach be blamed for that? No. Best man for the job,

We're a pack of spoiled brats, that's been clear for some time.

We should have won on Friday night - 2 goals 7 rather than 7 goals 2 - it would have been a different ball game.

For all those sooking about game plan, look around the competition - there's 1 good team (Doggies!) and all 16 teams flood to a certain extent. Carlton has for years, not sure why its such a problem.

If we had have been better in front of goal and had better skills going to in & around CHF (oh and had a CHF as well) it would have been very different.

And we could have beaten the team who everyone druels over for their young list!

Dont tell me the sky is falling, we should have won, didn't ... because
BAD KICKING IS BAD FOOTBALL.

We'll get there, have faith, sooks.

yeah i know there was no fev playing against the hawks

he does it every week for the past couple years
Then when it doesnt work in the first half fev plays more around the goal square

surely its not to hard to have fev running in to a isolated area where he is one on one leadout

Hawks can do it with a midget called Williams and we cant do it with Fev, dont make sense. Fev would kick 100 goals a season in a good team with a good coaching strategy setup

at the moment u see fev running into packs of two trying to take a mark and its crap

How is Stkilda going these days?
Fev has kicked 14 goals from 3 games this year. If he keeps that up he will get 100.
Another idiot.

fev was lucky to kick 3 goals with our game strategy setup against sydney. he only gets a couple opportunities to kick goals that make life tough on the big 25

Yeh problem is Molesly we can get it in the CHF area, but unless casper the ghost is wearing a Carlton jumper there is no one there to accept the ball....If you are happy to see Carlton playing half a ground then enjoy it cause believe me CHF & FF in, thats they style of coaching Pagan is teaching our young kids...If you saw they Ants yesterday Mitchell adopted the same rubbish. Even the commentators of the ABC could not believe what shit style we were playing. Admittedly we won in the Ressies but will never win with this ugly style in the seniors.
