I wouldn't mind seeing a straight kick from Waite, Fisher, or any of the mids who find it necessary to push forward into Fev's space

Carlton committed to the Irish experiment

The Carlton coach was insistent that while the broader philosophical issue of the worth of plundering Ireland for Australian football talent remains unanswered, the Blues won't have lost on O'hAilpin, no matter how good he ends up.

Well he'll learn more at the Bullants this week. 1 good game, 1 reasonable game, 1 poor game and 1 shocker. Bring in Bower for a run.

How was it a shocker? He made one error when he overan the ball, not Robinson Crusoe there. The other three goals were unstoppable passes from free midfielders into an open forward line. How can a defender stop those if there is no pressure in the middle? He didn't have a great game but I reckon his failures are magnified because his opponent kicked a few goals. Murphy didn't beat him one on one, only on leads and Murphy is an excellent lead and kick. We need to keep perservering with Setanta and cop his mistakes. If we dropped everyone who made an error or two, we'd be able to call off the rest of the season.

I love the way Carlos tackles! He gives the opposition no chance and brings them down most times. Probably one of the best tacklers at the club and should probably give some lessons to Hoops!!!

Setanta was a bit unlucky with that matchup.....Murphy is quick on the lead and being such an accurate kick he made it look worse than it was..
Pagan was guilty of dropping young Roo players after one bad game so I hope he has changed his thinking and cuts the irishman some slack.
Match him up correctly and he will learn....he needs someone like Brad Miller this week who is a tad rough and tumble without too much science to his game....not a Cameron Bruce type....
I would expect Setanta to play the rest of the season in the ones....has done little wrong in my books and adds some flair and gusto to what is essentially a lack lustre lineup...

I thought he was pretty good in the first half. It may not have worked, but I didn't mind the Murphy match up. As part of his long-term development, Setanta needs to learn to use his athleticism to match quick leading types. It may as well start now.

If he's fit enough, I hope they continue to play him.
