Doesn't bode well for Stevie then given how useless Chappy was @ Essendon**. Should've just retired. Ending his career after 2 nothing years @ Essendon** puts a bit of a damper on his whole career.

Er.. No it doesn't. We all kinda wish it did, but it doesn't. In 10 years time people won't even remember he played at Essendon*.

Just by the by, I often forget that Brereton played at Sydney and Collingwood. Most people wouldn't even know it. And did Jezza play at St Kilda? Nah, not really.

That's sort of what I meant. He should've just retired 2 years ago when Geelong let him go. No one will remember his time @ Essendon* because he did nothing of note there. Except be a part of start of the downward spiral of Yazz @ carlton in round 3.

Yep. I see what you mean. And btw, that right hook is unfortunately the most memorable thing that Yarrangobilly did this year.

Left hook.

Deserves it. Good ordinary foot soldier but plays for the team. I'm OK with that.

Yeah we still need him for a few more years and there is an outside chance his brother will join him.

Yeh, I am okay with it too.
He is a good tagger who does get a lot of the ball himself. Just needs to improve his disposal.

Curnow's best skill is a skill we severely lack throughout the rest of the group, hard two-way running. He's earned a new contract. 2 years is about right. I'd hope we'll be developing some young mids with that skill by the time his next contract comes up.

Curnow is probably the best tagger in the competition (IMO).
And Bolton was his coach in 2009 and 2010 when he developed into the player we would draft after he won the Box Hill B&F and came 3rd in the Liston trophy despite breaking his leg and missing eight matches.
I also think he could take another step and develop into a strong, hard running, ball winning mid.

As distinct from some other players on our list, this guy gives 100% every time he runs out to play.

Can we trade henderson, yarran etc... for picks in NEXT year's National Draft?
I wouldn't mind aiming for an additional 1st round pick next year when the draft is supposed to be deeper and staggers the influx of players a little.
i.e. If the current thinking is to get 5 picks in the top 20-25 this year, I'd rather have 4 picks this year and an additional top 20 pick next year.

Yes you can but then you run the risk of how that club goes next year.
Geelong will have pick 7-8 this year and may pick up Dangerfield, Henderson etc. over summer and finish 1st in 2016.
Is pick 7-8 this year better than pick 18 next year?

I think people are getting scared of this years draft because a lot of recruiters say it's shallow. The first 20 picks this years draft would be the same in every year it just falls away quicker.

No point in waiting another year, we might as well get these kids in and start developing them.

Ruckman Robbie Warnock will learn his fate next week after scheduled talks with Silvagni and Bolton.

Warnock, 28, is off contract and was offered a two-year deal several months ago but told the club he preferred to wait until the end of the season before making a decision.

It is understood he would be happy to remain on a one-year deal, but will keep his options open for there could be about eight clubs searching for a back-up ruckman, including North Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.

The Blues are confident of retaining Matthew Kreuzer, who is expected to soon sign a new contract.

Warnock had been on a lucrative deal and is recovering from shoulder surgery. He has managed only two matches this year and has not played since round eight against Geelong.

I'm not against offering either Warnock or Wood a 1 year contract plus an option for a second year ..... but only one of them. And Warnock would have to lower his asking price drastically ...

Realistically, another club will offer Robbie more than we will, so assuming that we re-sign Kreuzer first, then I can't see Robbie staying a Blue. All the best to him wherever he ends up.

The question then becomes whether we retain Wood as our backup, or whether SOS thinks there are better young/rookie options out there that can fill in for Kreuzer if needed in the short term. Having Casboult and Rowe provides us with a bit of insurance to tide us over for the next few years while we develop new rucks.

We'd have to be pretty desperate to retain 206
