i think we've drafted and bought the wrong kind of players. this is a hindsight is 20/20 statement, i know ... but espesh after the htb rule was changed. we have barely won a game since. that tapping it on, toeing it forward, keeping the ball alive and then breaking clear of the stoppage with speed has found us lacking in the middle.

i'd love to replace one of walsh or cerra and along with hewett and go for some speed in the middle. someone who breaks lines and can take a bounce. totally revamp the midfield for next season, or we waste having this generational spine.

bailey smith is on the move. he'd fit perfectly imo.

We have 2 A grade mids in cripps and Walsh. Granted, Walsh isn't 100%, but our next tier of mids, injuries or not, is OK at best, pedestrian at worst.

Cerra, Hewett, Kennedy, Cincotta, Hollands, Carroll, Cottrell...

We are short 1-2 running ball users who can excel in the square.

Voss/Aker/Black/Hart/Lappin we certainly ain't.

I’ve obviously been open about how much I dislike Voss (from the day he was hired) but this is a flower up the likes of which I’ve not seen since the supplement saga derailed a generation of player at the Junkies.

Anyone that’s been part of this program needs to go. Continuously playing players that are broken is on the selection committee, coach and the HPT. Voss as head coach, Russell is obviously gone but Lloyd,anyone else that thought this game style was either going to be successful or sustainable, can flower off too.

I’ll give Austin this draft, if he’s allowed to actually draft who he thinks is best as opposed to having to fit this game style.

I’d think the coaching group identify the game plan, list managers decides what’s required and the recruiting staff find the players.

Perhaps Carroll had run out of legs. I may be misremembering but I feel like he's been subbed out every time he's started.

Motlop had a poor game but scored the goal that put us ahead in the 4Q, and got some good link up touches at half forward leading to chances. It's not about what's come before, it's about what you expect at the end and Motlop contributed well to our strong 4Q.

He might be a good motivator but as far as a coach goes i don't think he is a complete coach.
He and his coaching staff need to work on team coaching as well as individual improvement.
Firstly, we don't play as a team. We don't make space for each other, we don't shepherd for each other, tap the ball on and so on.
Secondly, i don't see individuals working on their weaknesses except for natural growth.
There is more but that is probably a club as a whole, selection, drafting as so on.

Reality is with last 3 years of Late Miss, Late charge, Late Miss he's actually a useless @#$%&! coach when we have had and will likely never see again the best list we could dream of.

That’s an indictment on them all including Voss.

He might be the right man but I suspect we need to add serious footy IQ to our coaching panel. The current set up is not up to elite standard.

The Carlton curse.........consistently overvaluing our list.
Don't get me wrong we have some good players, but we also have some pretty big flaws and holes, injury prone players being at #1.
Only 4 players today have played every game this year.

He does get them up for tough, backs to the wall type games. He milked the best out of that inexperienced 24 today against an inform team.

...but he would have learnt about about selecting fit teams this year and not messing with form ( 2 rucks ).

We have a list that's slow, can't kick, can't stick a tackle, can't handle pressure and can't stay fit, yet is also the best list in living memory

FMD, we went out there with a VFL team and the players gave everything they had. Any other team wouldn't have got near it.
IMHO, this result wasn't due to coaching on game day. It was 100% personnel. I understand people are disappointed but let's be realistic.
