I am impressed by Matthew Lloyd and think he would make a great assistant coach.
He seems to do well with Haileybury, his commentary is good, he would drive standards, help our forward craft, and not a bad kicking coach either. Don’t think it would happen for a number of reasons but I think it would be a good appointment.

Been thinking the same thing 17th. Fair call, that.

Wright stated on SEN that last year trade period that they cut to deep deprived them of depth and they had to rely on to many young players.

Exactly what I have been banging on about since last years trade period.
So yes it was his fault if you listen to Wright

Agreed with this previously and have mentioned it as well, but the coach(s) have a bigger say on who is delisted and traded then the list manager.

Not necessarily trying to argue the point, but this is a copy of the players that left at the end of last year, as per this article: https://www.afl.com.au/news/1245422/ins ... ad-of-2025

Quote:
Domanic Akuei (delisted), Jack Caroll (delisted), David Cuningham (delisted), Sam Durdin (delisted), Matt Kennedy (trade, Western Bulldogs), Caleb Marchbank (delisted), Jack Martin (delisted), Alex Mirkov (delisted), Matt Owies (trade, West Coast)

Kennedy (traded for R2 pick) would have been good, for sure, and Owies*, perhaps. Otherwise, did we really lose so much?

*Owies trade helped us land pick 3/Jagga Smith.

And the Kennedy pick has turned into Harry O'Farrell so I'm happy with that as well.

Forget whether they were injury prone or not, focus on what gaps they were filling in the list.

David Cuningham, Sam Durdin, Matt Kennedy, Caleb Marchbank, Jack Martin, and Matt Owies were all experienced players filling the middle of our list's age profile. Kennedy, Marchbank, Owies and Martin would be first 22 picks every week if available. The others would have been first cab off the rank if any first 22 were injured.

In our finals run a few years ago Marchbank and Martin were key players who transformed our fwd and backlines.

Now look at the kids we replaced these guys with and tell me we didn't lose much from the list structure.

No question.

The club factored in having a better run with injury plus Elijah being available all year so I get what they did - it just backfired.

I take your point, and don't necessarily disagree.

And presumably that's why we have Sam Walsh, Nic Newman, Jack Silvagni, Brodie Kemp, and to a lesser extent Jagga Smith, plus a few others, on the list.

Unfortunately, they all serve as our reminder that we can't forget about injuries.

Some people believe Voss asks for a certain type of player but Austin says, no... you get what I decide.

Hopefully we are getting some good plants in. Otherwise it will be a barren land that cannot grow and flourish.

If we get Davies then maybe Hinkley will come over to support Voss and we can then start work on some of their players.
Thank you Port.

Optimistic. We are a mess mate and no way anyone of value even consider our club. It’s over, with more exodus if they can get out……….
