Is there anywhere you can find a free kick break down? I was trying to remember how many holding the ball frees we got but I lost count.

Don't remember the last time we made so many tackles stick. I think Nick Graham got 3 or 4 himself.

According to the Adelaide Sunday Mail we got 24 free kicks to Port's 10, which is a pretty large difference. It's usually the other way around - or that is the way that it seems to me.

Graham came of age yesterday. Kicked goals, stuck strong tackles & used the ball pretty well on most occasions, although I was annoyed with his out on the full in the last 30 seconds. I could just see Port charging down to the other end and stealing it from us. Confidence is important and if we keep playing kids like Graham and Buckley and absorb their early highs and lows we will be richly rewarded.

Who would get a couple of feel good, good bloke puff pieces courtesy of Rohan "I write for Melbournes paper of record but still don't know the rules of football" Connolly, and Mark "I am drunk, fat and stupid" Robinson, with a couple of photos of them mucking in at the local Auskick clinic.

Disappointing to see the media trying crucify Gibbs. It was unfortunate that the bloke's head hit the turf but it was a good tough fair tackle with accidental collateral damage. If the guy had got up and kept playing no-one would be saying boo about it.

If the MRP are consistent, and take the player's eventual well-being into account, then Gibbs will get off. Gray not only sat the game out on the bench, but wanted to come back on. He's completely fine.

i just called him a ganniff or a choolera

Went to see the Harlem Globetrotters at the neighbouring Margaret Court Arena and as we were approaching, during the second quarter I think, could hear cheers from the G. Ah well, the replay will have to suffice.

At least the kids enjoyed the show, though $50 for a basketball is a bit steep.

Watching now:

Quarter 1

Goal port - turnover cripps (should have hand balled)

Goal port - turnover Simpson (way too slow)

Goal blues - crude tackle on hendo

Rushed blues - cripps wrong option, should have paid hendo mark

Goal blues- graham crumbs off pack, high kick in from everitt, brought to ground by kreuz

Rushed blues - everitt poor kick think he might have tried to kick the goal from 55m ended up falling well short (should have been a great pressure goal)

Goal blues - everitt smother then holding the ball

Point port - shit turnover by murphy could have cost us

Point port - shit umpiring (ball was out on full, called throw in) didn't cost us but could have been bad

Goal port - turnover gibbs kicking out of 50 (horrible)

Goal port - graham missed tackle on wines after throw in

Point port - kreuz didn't contest ruck easy tap out to port

Goal blues - bad port turnover (hendo got there to spill ball) everitt pick up and goal.

Notes:

murph turnover king, simmo not far behind
saw menzel once I think
cripps warming up
hendo presenting a lot

Quarter 2

Goal blues - armfield gets legged, lucky as murph's kick inside 50 was a turnover, into bad port turnover (lucky played on)

Point blues - murph bombed into 50, kind bounce almost miraculous goal to menzel

Goal port - carrots gives away dumb free, yaz fumbles ball, goes forward goal

Point port - yarran kicks goal (was in process of kicking across goal to team mate)

Goal blues - Rowe beats opponent and marks delivers perfectly to levi

Goal port - murph tries to knock ball on, port run on to it and goal

Goal blues - carrots cleans up gibbs turnover (2 in a row), handball to armfield who runs, to hendo who delivers to menzel, good mark and goal

Goal blues - wood off ground, kreuz, gibbs and cripps all involved, good work from wood to spook defender

Goal blues - cripps extracts, curnow, bell and carrots get handballs, back to cripps, amazing over the head handball (while being tackled), bell goes on great run for goal

Goal blues- cripps, graham and bell combine, delivers to everitt BANG

Point port - dropping the ball on cripps (shit work by simmo)

Goal port - high tackle from white, long kick into 50, off hands port crumbs and goals

Goal port - port crumb off ball up on their 50 and goal (too easy)

Goal port - tuohy long kick turnover, port go forward, graham misses tackle, goal

Gibbs puts gray into turf zzz zzz zzz

Notes:

Cripps superstar
Blues physical towards end of quarter (mainly cripps)
Murphy a bit better
Kreuz looking like his former self with 2nd efforts. (Still rusty though)
Red time goals

It's like I am really there...

Anyone else reminded of the Fraser Brown tackle with the Doc's tackle in the last quarter?

You mean the one in that year we lost the grand final?

cripps ... is well just outstanding. I haven't bought a footy jumper in 20 years, but im close to getting one and slapping the No 9 on the back!!

but two players who I thought did phenomenally well as well and prob don't get the credit ...

ed Curnow is turning into a quality footballer, time and time again he was where we needed him to be, and beat his man ...
d. armfield again, is just working a treat up forward, his pace and intensity upforward are just terrific.

was really impressed with those two, as well as the usual suspects.

Why? Because it's the rules you @#$%&! cretin.

I don't think he even acknowledged he was wrong when assumedly many people would've pointed this out. Just let it hang there like the bad ignorant fart that it was. Interesting that Gray passed the concussion test at halftime and it was Port that decided to rest him anyway.
That MUST affect the decision and surely wouldn't result in suspension.

Been a long time since I have enjoyed a day at the footy watching the Blues. When MM was 'coaching', i ceased to care whether we won or lost and we rarely had a whole hearted victory, but i really enjoyed Saturday and found myself fully engaged with my club again. Exciting game, great win. Loved the style and the ferocious tackling. When has BG ever hurt anyone in a tackle? Patrick Cripps is a star. Tough, skilful, exciting. Graham very good, how cd he not have had more than 20 mins as sub when we were losing each week by 13 goals under MM, did he not buy mick's book? Rowe was terrific and is a good citizen. Whole backline excellent - Bucks, Tuohy, Docherty Simpson, and like White's endeavour. I though Yazz was very average at the game, he looked a bit better on the replay. We need him to play consistently to his talent. Hendo was very good and worked exceptionally hard. If he is trade bait we have really lost the plot. Levi just average i thought. Has great hands in a pack but not when he is leading. Everitt good and Army showed great endeavour, skipper good too. Bell was ferocious and is growing.

Mick made our list look worse than it is. It is not great but it is developing. Also have we been too hard on Shane Rogers? Hughes was in charge during the Bootsma, Lucas etc years. Rogers nailed it with Menzel and Cripps, and Graham was a good late pick, Giles hasn't been on the park. (Perhaps Temay wasn't such a great pick at #35 tho)

Interesting this week. We could have got Peter Wright at #8. He was touted as #1 at various times and a tall key forward would be handy. The three we swapped for him are propping up the Nthn Blues. Be nice if mature age recruit BB could show something, and Jaksch has played 9 games in three years, you would hope he could command a game in a bottom side. Same with Whiley, 13 games in 4 years. Time is on their side, but none of them are 18 year olds. Players on AFL lists for 3-4 years or who are 21 need to produce something.

This is the first evidence the Gibbs camp will point to, so whether the journos on yet another witch hunt turn a blind eye to this fact wont matter in the end.

Courage, Commitment, Desire, is what I saw on Saturday, very hard to find a bloke who didn't play his part, hopefully this is a step forward, I will be able to cop losses to sides that are better than us if we bring this every week, I don't think anybody deserves to be criticized for being "average" because they all brought something that we've screamed for all year EFFORT, sure they made mistakes and blokes sometime drifted out of the game at times but everyone contributed either in play or more importantly off the ball when the hard shit had to be done, if we are going to critize should we write off Tom Bell's efforts and one percenters because he seems to only know how to bomb the ball long, I wouldn't.

The kids were terrific, everyone dug deep when we gave up a 5 goal lead in the last quarter, we could have just panicked and no one would have been overly stressed by it because of the effort put in, we weren't expected to bring what we bought so I'm pretty happy with all 21 of them.

BOO @#$%&! HOO, it's easy to highlight the Port missed frees, there were a few missed both ways, it's called the rub of the green, I can't remember the last time we go the rub of the green, they can deal with it and move on like any other team has to when they get a rough trot, @#$%&! em
