So was Caro talking about a Priority pick or a comp pick? She would have no idea if it's the comp pick given it is so 'complicated' to calculate, she doesn't strike me as a math genius.

But a Priority pick would be a disaster as it might mean we lose Weitering

Seriously though Lions beat us twice this year and finished above us so it's hard to argue they deserve a special pick and we don't . Henderson and Yarran want to get out of Carlton so it's not like Bris are the only club losing players .

MLG and Trigg need to grow a pair ASAP

In the end I think the AFL's goal is for Brissy to have Schache (the romance of it ... Plus the reduced risk of the go home factor). I think they are pretty certain that we will take Weitering with pick 1, however if we also had pick 2 (for Krooz) we would take Schache as well.

Therefore I have a feeling that the AFL will award a PP (a before the draft pick) to Brissy and justify it by pointing to how many players have left the Lions due to homesickness.

I think then they will give us pick 2 for Krooz leaving.

So the draft order will be:
PPick. Brisbane (Schache)
Pick 1. Carlton (Wietering)
Pick 2. Carlton (?)
Pick 3. Brisbane (?)

They can't do that. They are not in a worse of position than us, simple.

We need cool heads here. SOS needs some kind of confirmation from the AFL over how they will calculate compo. Something in writing!!!! We can then make the valued assessment over our options. If there is to be some kind of AFL Backdown with us receiving compo at end of 1st round etc then we re-sign Krooz. Probably our best bet would be for one of the AFL's project clubs like GWS to be the preferred destination for Krooz, then they will bend over backwards to make it happen!

Great post. I posted it a couple of pages back. But don't worry about that. You can add a few words at the end and repost it.

We haven't had picks 1 and 2 taken from us for about thirteen years now. Time they did it again.

Just quietly, "the couple of extra words at the end" make the best point. The afl will give us what we want to get him to GWS. It was a pretty boring/obvious post up to then. Haha. Sorry.

Will be very interesting if luenberger leaves the lions as a free agent and, he's deal is around the same as Kreuzers (if it happens)....
So if the lions recieve a pick after their first pick then we must get one after ours, pick 2..
What are people's thoughts re Carlisle?? Only 23.
Would we be prepared to part with Hendersons pick??
"If"we do land pick 2, we may end up with,
Weitering and Carlisle as key defenders and Schache as our key forward.
I am still hoping to get Aish but, not to pay overs, the kid can play, just think of Docherty at the lions.
It's funny how all these clowns are having a crack re us pick 1&2 yet when the shoe is on the other foot!!
Adelaide may chase Menzel?? Take their first pick and run, possibly another quality mid.
Yarran, does he want to stay?? Goes to another club probably becomes a star!!!!
I guess time will tell but, it would be nice to hear players wanting too come to our club, Carlisle and Aish example, let's bring on trade week!!

I wouldn't be giving any first/second round pick for Carlisle. Draft kids.

Carlisle can be offered a contract for the PSD and either take it or look elsewhere.

What's the point of giving Brisbane extra high picks until they demonstrate they can hold on to them?

Do not forget that Carlisle has a 2 year suspension hanging over his head with the WADA issue. We don't need to get involved in that. Leave him alone and select someone else. Definitely don't use any picks on him.

Generally agree except I would happily use a PSD pick on him

If Brisbane somehow make a case for getting priority pick and we can't then there aren't enough eye roll emoticons in the known world that I could use.

3 premierships -v- 4 wooden spoons since 2001 is ample evidence of our shitness this decade.

Always DEMAND more than you're willing to accept.

Go to the table asking the AFL to:
- Pay our debt (which they created)
- Give us a priority pick
- Give us Band1 compo should we lose Kreuzer

... knowing if we walk away with any one of those, we'll win.

It's important to point out that last year we lost Jarrad Waite for nothing, which should be "money in the bank" towards a compensation pick. If the AFL releases a statement saying that it was the combination of Carlton losing Waite AND Kreuzer over two years that resulted in the compo pick, it will be far more (though still not entirely) palatable to the masses.

It's also important to point out they have been far more active in helping other clubs get on top of their debts, while still drawing on the Carlton ATM when "equalisation" comes around.

the afl hate us for whatever reason and the media hype around pick 2 will land us a second rounder for kruezer.

If brisbane somehow get a priority pick before our first pick for finishing second last than this will confirm to me the league is corrupt

My boss knows Kreuz's old man. Just told me that Kreuz most likely going to the Pies.
Followed up by saying 'They (the family) love the Pies. Always have, even while Matthew's been playing at Carlton'
My boss is a lifelong Blues fan just in case you re wondering if shes some Filth supporting nut making up fanciful stuff.
Not looking good fellas.

Nice robbie and make a good public relations campaign at the same time. Get the media on our side. Someone in the media must owe the club something.

This is a PR bonanza for the AFL. Collingwood get Kreuzer, Brisbane get a priority pick and Carlton get shAfted all round.

If they try anything shifty, I'd threaten to take the draft and salary cap to court.
Alternatively, I trade everyone out then pass each pick at the draft. I'd rather fold than be flowered again.
