Not looking good fellas.

Interesting to know how the Pies are fitting in Kreuz and supposedly Treloar and Aish in their already tight salary cap?

This is the most critical off season for us in terms of our ongoing viability. Can't help but feel we'll mess it all up. Either by our own inadequacies or the 'make it up as they go' AFL.

Fully understand there is a lot of pure speculation around at the moment but we simply can't afford to get the no Vaseline treatment. From anybody....

I hope and pray that SOS, Trigg and Co know what they're doing.

In the last few years they have got rid of Shaw, Thomas, Beams, Dawes and Wellingham to name a few and replaced with draft picks plus Taylor Adams and Crisp. They would have money and lots of it.

As a matter of interest, has anyone worked out how many Brisbane players have left compared to Carlton?
I reckon we might just about have them covered.

We need cool heads here. SOS needs some kind of confirmation from the AFL over how they will calculate compo. Something in writing!!!! We can then make the valued assessment over our options. If there is to be some kind of AFL Backdown with us receiving compo at end of 1st round etc then we re-sign Krooz. Probably our best bet would be for one of the AFL's project clubs like GWS to be the preferred destination for Krooz, then they will bend over backwards to make it happen!

Great post. I posted it a couple of pages back. But don't worry about that. You can add a few words at the end and repost it.

Just quietly, "the couple of extra words at the end" make the best point. The afl will give us what we want to get him to GWS. It was a pretty boring/obvious post up to then. Haha. Sorry.

So let me get this straight...

Kruze leaves and we get pick 21
Kruze leaves and goes to collingwood
Brisbane get a priority pick
Brisbane get band one compo for Leuy and the AFL gives them pick 3 or 4

The sad thing is that all of the above will probably hapen. OMFG what a nightmare!!

ˆˆ none of that will happen.

at the very worst for us; brisbane's might get the number one pick (scache) as some kind of a priority pick, and we would get picks 2 & 3 (weitering & francis) as our draft pick and compo for kreuz.

but i'm still convinced we'll get picks 1 & 2 with some kind of afl/ brisbane deal in place not to take scache citing his want to play in qld.

The AFL cant tell us who to pick surely. Its a restraint of choice. We better be tough on this.

If we agreed to that then the AFL would do us for draft tampering.

I would prefer Francis over Schache anyhow.

So I could handle...

Priority Pick Bris (Scache)
Pick 1 Carlton (Weitering)
Krezuer Comp Pick , Pick 2 Carlton (Francis)
Luenenbergersourkrautbartworst Comp Pick, Pick 3 Bris (whoever the fkc)

Do we all agree Luenenhamburger and Kreuzer are pretty much the same age/talent/history proposition and therefore if Bris get a band 1 comp pick we should too?

When it coms to the AFL, what SHOULD happen, and was actually DOES happen are rarely one and the same.
The AFL does whatever suits them, no matter what their own rules say.

It is important to understand one aspect to all this.

If you are comparing Kruezer to Frawely you are looking at it all wrong. Frawely was never worth pick 3 but the AFL used his compensation as a mask/excuse to give Melb a priority pick. The AFL don't tell you how they come about their formula so they can pick and choose who gets picks and who doesn't. Now they come out saying the formula involves other players in the same year blah blah blah. It's a load of bs.

Don't fret too much, you might actually have to say hello again to pick 2 when the AFL give Brisbane a priority pick.
