The trade between Hawthorn and Carlton is pretty much complete.

The crux of it is the Hawks will slide from 9 to 10, and get Carlton's 22.

The Blues would move up from 10 to 9 and get 42 from the Hawks.

It will want to be more than that.

1,500 points to be comfortable getting Dean & Ison.

That deal is a 400 point haircut.

I posted earlier in the year that I wanted a clean out and aggressive trading this off season and to send a message to the playing group.

I preferred to keep Curnow and dump Harry, but after the way he's handled himself, I'm glad to see the back of him.

I hope Harry can stay fit and thrive as the sole tall and prove me wrong now.

Harry works way harder than Charlie. Far more professional. Charlie sooks it up every time the game isn't going his way. Stops running and just wants to wrestle defenders. Would way rather keep Harry.

Cannot be true, one spot up and giving away a 2nd rounder for a third
That's one of the worst deals I've ever seen. Surely we aren't that stupid.

We always seem to help Hawthorn right? So what do we get out of that deal? An upgrade from 10 to 9.

Surely more to it than that.

@mickgleeson

Clubs considering trading 2027 picks. Do you really have confidence in the Tassie government, the stadium approval and that the Devils team and draft picks don’t get pushed back a year? Are you comfortable trading picks in a draft that is suddenly not diluted? It’s a genuine risk.

SOS did something like this with Hawks 10 years ago and we were still baffled years later.

This is too weird to be over.

Maybe they are making deals for Draft night? Maybe to ensure we don't blow a first on Dean, when we don't have to.
Shirley there's more to this than face value.

This is set to be the deal:

Hawthorn gives 9, 31, 42 (from Dees/Jiath) and 43 to Carlton.

Carlton gives 10 and 22 to Hawthorn.

May help with with Merrett, points for the Blues & maybe Buku Khamis.

Obviously now the deals have been made, and this is all theatre and padding till the 7.30 deadline.

I thought we were getting 9, 31, 42 (from Dees/Jiath) and 43 to Carlton.

Carlton gives 10 and 22 to Hawthorn.

That makes more sense.

Expect to read about the additional picks 31 and 43. Points making up the 405 point loss (on face value)

Good deal. We wont be sitting on 9 and 11. The other picks give us currency for Khamis, Ison etc.

That's a good deal for us. Moving to ick 9 reduces the chances of Dean bid coming before and the extra picks give extra points
