gov was a part of the few who didn't want to follow onfield directions and didn't want to pay the physical price the coach was asking.

so he's gone. having 22 players, albeit less talented, on game day fighting; working for each other and moving in the same direction will yield better results than 22 supremely talented guys not doing team things and not believing in themselves, the coach and the guys around them.

2023 was a great season bcos we had talent that was working hard.

And this is the thanks I get for agreeing with Dodo.

Gov is finished and can't kick a 20m pass (lol what) and Buku is a downgrade? Jesus, maybe it's time I laced up the old boots, then!

Friggin Carlton recruiters, you just can't help but keep making the same Crap year after year!! A total obsession with Recycled Rubbish that clogs our list and take us no where!

The Florent Deal for a 3rd rounder was totally unneccessary. He is Cooked. His best is past him. He is the perfect recycled rubbish.

He is on a long term deal... BIG money.... Are we going to cover that too??

Youre making up stories dodo. Relax.

You have no idea how much Florent costs, and you obviously don't know, he's the 3rd best kick at the Swans and you probably don't know he played 16 games this year and more than 20 in the 5 years prior (yes, since he was 21yo...at the Swans). His foot skills make a mockery of the skills we have at present. Watch this guy hit targets and run away from opponents.

Have we ever failed with a senior Sydney Swan player coming to the club? Cats we have, but not Swans senior players: Great development and no flower policy.

He just received a 5 year contract last year. Cooked? Mate, get a grip. Sydney are not fools and neither are our Recruitment crew.

Tell us what we should have done. You can do this now with a rear view mirror. I'm curious. I don't think you have answers, and I don't know if you're being serious with your complaining. Smile.

Are you kidding me?

Would you be able to tell me first why Sydney has offered him a Mega deal only to tell him he is not wanted & better to look elsewhere? YES

We have failed with Senior recycled players from so many Clubs in the Past. Would you like me to dig deep and give you a list of complete failures?

Heath Scotland
Matt Lappin
Val Perovic
Kevin Heath
Ron Barrassi
Adan saad
Will Hayward
Ben Ainsworth
Adam Cerra
Adrian Hickmott
Greg Wells
Bernie Evans.....

There's hits and misses at every club.

Don't look at carltons first 2 decades since the penalties. We were a shaddow of a club. No one wanted to come to us.

WE had a bit of bad luck with injury crippling Gov and Williams, and that left a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

Godness me, some of those names you mentioned were before I was even Born

Can I ask you an honest question? Do you actually work for the Club? I only ask because some of your responses and posts over the years raises a lot of question marks!!

Everyone at Carlton knows our Rectuitment has been the Worst in the entire AFL System for a decade. We have burned so many players, its not even funny! To say this happens to all clubs is just living in denial!

Dodo27, my view is that Bondi is constructive, loves his club, believes in what we're about and while acknowledges we make some blunders has a positive outlook.

I must say its much more enjoyable commentary than streams of negativity

Buku has upside. Gov does not. Keep refreshing the list. Buku has been kicking plenty of goals in the ressies. If he had been in our twos this year we would have been crying out for him to be picked. Good pickup IMO.

It will be done for pick 32 which would have been used on Ison anyway, and we'll get a later pick coming back to make up points to get Ison, so it will effectively cost us next to nothing

Gov couldnt break into a team with 16 out injured in the last 3 rounds. Thats a fact.

Technically you're right, it is a fact, but you know as well as I do that it was about contract triggers, not ability ;)

Right this minute Great one I'm focussing on facts not what may or may not have been

Point I'm making re Gov is at this minute Khamis has much more value to Carlton Football team than Gov. I base that on Govs age and his vulnerability to injury, and we can't rely on him.

Put it this way if you had a choice of Gov or Buku to offer a contract to who would you rely on for most value?

Like I said, I would like to keep Gov to help out kids in VFL (leadership/coaching) and break glass option if he isnt injured.

I'm bemused at how adding all this experience and potential on field leadership is all of a sudden a bad thing, especially given what we dished up this year.
Florent is a good get and an upgrade.
Khamis will be an upgrade on a player who is regularly injured and turns away from the hard stuff and at the very least is good depth if McLovin does stay.
He can also play forwards which helps if Kemp goes down.

Be excited this is what we needed and GW and Davies is delivering in spades.

Yeah , that's the way I see it Jake . Could go either way . I would prefer to take a step forward and go arse over tit than stand paralysed and get blown out of the water . There having a go . Its not all gonna work but they are having a crack . Onya Jake .

Florent arrives at IKON Park with a wealth of experience, having played 184 AFL games - 130 of those consecutively for the Swans from Round 20, 2019 to Round 12, 2025 - including every game in both Sydney’s Grand Final seasons.

Resilient and played in 2 GF's

Just sayin.

So you reckon he will be a walk up Starter in 2026?

He reminds me of Newman who is coming back next year as almost a new recruit. Can you see both of them in the team?

I can see him on a wing hitting Harry lace out more often than Acres or Ollie would.

That says upgrade in skills.

Everyone knows we are the worst team with disposal efficiency, why deny that?

Spot on Mick. I've been so apathetic about Carlton and footy in general all year. I couldn't have felt more disconnected from the club.

This week I'm finally feeling enthusiastic again. It's a massive refresh.

Debatable. If Harry is injured again and sitting in row Z then my money would be on Acres hitting him lace out more.

I've always thought Bondi was a she aswell

lets see what lands by the end of today.

what is inspiring about this trade period, it seems there is a consistent application to strategy - we are bringing in skill, speed and attitude while off loading poor attitude. time will tell, however for the first time in some time we are making consistent and somewhat tough calls.
