I wonder if SOS had a boner over a dirty old second rounder or Josh Walker when he was sizing Hendo up for an exit?

Josh Walker can play. Probably seen as surplus to Geelong's needs up forward when they have Hawkins, Vardy, Clarke, Stanley and Kersten (though not sure of his contract status) as tall options. He'll be 23 in November. Has good hands, hits contests hard (doesn't mind the physical contest) and has a good work rate. He's also quick. At Geelong's time trials it's Mark Blicavs, Selwood then Walker. Can play as a lead up forward or pinch hit in the ruck (which would leave Levi to play forward all game). He knows what a successful club environment looks like and that you need to work hard to make it (having come off Geelong's rookie list, like Carrazzo which worked out pretty well for us). And for those who like trivia his Grandfather is Geelong premiership player Peter Walker.

He kicked 19.10 this season
Could come in and be our leading goal kicker :) Mind you he did kick 4 against GC and 5 against Brisbane.

If they took Liam Jones, l would take this trade.

I'm looking at this from another angle.
If we get Walker and a 2nd rounder from the cats, that means we have. No 1st rounder to give the drug cheats for Carlisle. No way they will get pk 1 for him from us, so we can say...sorry we tried to do the right thing, but best we can do is 2nd round....or psd.
Take it or leave it flowers

Be nice if St Kilda rescued us from ourselves with Carlisle.

Don't think we're going to challenge for the next 3 years so I'd wait for another opportunity via the draft or trade in that period to replace those blokes.

In the meantime, I'll take the good attitude, on a reasonable contract, Jamo and Rowe give us rather than Carlisle on bigger dollars.

Wonder what Carlisle is after??
Money??
Winning team??
Long term contract??
Over the drug saga??
Is he better than,
Jamison, Rowe, Watson??
He stated he wants to play down back..
Can we please him and Essendon*??
Reckon he worth chasing as long as it's not to sell the farm.
If we do land him somehow, our backline from,
Jamison Weitering(pick 1) & Carlisle.
Could we land a mid teen pick?? Yarran or Menzel??
Maybe a tall forward, Weideman or Curnow??
Our forwardline could be,
Jaksch Casboult & Weideman/Curnow.
Thanks for your services,
Judd, Ellard, Carrazzo, Henderson, Watson, Russell
Fields, Armfield, Warnock and Johnson.
With the potential trading of Yarran and Menzel.
Clean out time. Pitty re Jones and the contract..
Just my silly thoughts..

I've got an idea... get a first round pick for Hendo, and then dont give it to Drugsdon for Carlisle. Take Carlisle in the PSD.

I'm sure we only take him if he is prepared to walk through the PSD. And in that case its a great recruitment.

At what price? If he wants $700K a year for 4 years would it still be great recruiting?

every recruitment decision can turn bad.. If he gets banned by WADA we don't have to pay him. If he gets injured.. well shit happens.

Carrazzo has retired. Rumoured to train to be an umpire next year. Best we can hope for are some extra free kicks from the umpires association.

Most realise that Carlisle will have to tell EFC* that he is going to Carlton in the PSD and that is something that rarely happens if ever in high profile trades. His name would be mud with the AFL and EFC* and would probably drag Carltons relationship with the AFL down with him. The league likes to see fair trades.

The only way we get him the PSD is if the St Kilda and EFC* dont get a deal done like Collingwood/Port with Stevens all them years ago. Can't see that happening again unless EFC* use this case to send a message to their list.

We can however use the PSD for leverage if Carlisle does say he wants to play for Carlton to get a good deal that is slanted in our favour.

In all reasonableness i can see that this is true. But what would you be prepared to offer for him? We need our picks, and the guy is likely to be banned next year.

3rd rounder and a player (Jones).
