Pretty sure it was in the second quarter when bartel collided with Waite and Milburn i think. Jimmy got cleaned up pretty badly coming back with the flight of the ball but was back on his feet about 10 seconds later and even had a handball. Was his last action for the game though. I don't think there is anything waite needs to worry about as it was in a marking contest and there wasn't even a free kick paid. Jimmy just got spiralled mid air and landed badly and waite was going for the ball in a marking contest.

Jimmae, Are you sure White injured his knee again? To me it looked more like a bruised back/buttock or possibly a hammy. He when for a mark and copped a knee to the lower back. He got up and held his back and hobbled to the bench. Didnt look like a knee to me but he didnt look happy.

No not sure, saw him clutching but wasn't focusing on it too much. More than happy to defer elsewhere there.

Thank-you very much for all the reports.

Just a question that no one seems to have mentioned - who was actually playing on Stevie J in the last quarter? Was it Rusty, who I take it was was cramping up a bit, or was someone else meant to be covering him?

Don't bother; here's a summary:

1. Shoulda got Selwood!
2. Shoulda got Rich!
3. Carrazzo can't kick.
4. Midfield are downhill skiers.
5. Waite has brain fades (like, plays on from 2o metres out after umpy says touched play on rather than going back to take his kick and get tackled).
6. Our aborigines are better than Collingwood's aborigines.
7. Sakc Ratten.

There ya go. You're now as enlightened as I am, but you haven't wasted 2 hours of your life!

We won't ever be a premiership threat until we stop seeing these sorts of fadeouts/slow starts. I would hope Ratts gave them a gobful afterwards.

practice match or no pracice match......coudn't agree more

How many regular season games do you see at 1 PM on a Saturday in 31 degree heat? I could have laid down some tin foil on the boundary line and cooked a sausage sizzle for the crowd.

I do not place much emphasis on these games at all but the weather affects both sides not just us...the only negative I would take from the pre season is as Don said the slow starts which was an issue last season...other than that it's been pretty positive but the real deal starts in a couple of weeks....can't wait

I read earlier in the thread that we were apparently cruising in the last but FMPOV we were absolutely spent and dropping like flies with cramp.

Also have to disagree strongly about Gibbs being lazy as I watched him continually putting physical pressure on the contest. He worked hard, make no mistake.

We kicked the 1st goal in 30 seconds then it became a defensive arm wrestle for the rest of the quarter. No slow start just a tough game early as the teams sorted themselves out.

The only thing that is of any importance out of this game hasn't been discussed that I can see, did we get any injuries?

When Hendo lead up the ground, he looked great, hands were sticky and he crashed packs.

Closer to home, a victim of our terrible delivery into the forward line mostly, and hands not being as quite as sticky. Could have had a few more goals to his name, but that's life.

A better article over at The Age, until I read this "after losing Michael Jamison to injury during the pre-season."

For what my opinion is worth I thought he struggled earlier - looked a bit cautious and didn't manage to make many marks stick. But he kept plugging away and had improved by later in the game. The support from the fans was nice too after the bollocking he was getting early last year.

ok so from what i have read we were missing warnock, murphy, betts, kreuzer and probably one of mclean and houla from our best 22. russell, carrazzo and henderson were all back from interrupted pre seasons and were underdone. armfield didnt play a full game whilst bower and white got knocks and went off the ground early leaving watson, duigan and laidler as our "key defenders". garlett, hampson & yarran were impressive again and look ready for big years. we dominated most of the game and had more scoring shots only to ran out of legs in the last 15?
seeing as though this was a practice game i cant really see many negatives....

In a nutshell

Love what I'm reading. I reckon this is a great thtread. Balanced, typically opiniated and it's amazing how onlookers from different vantage points saw the game from a different perspective. That's nothing new.

We had more of the ball, more shots, and in control for most of the game....and all the above from dood doof.

Bring on season 2011....we're going to replace The Cats in the Top 4.

Bower didn't get a knock, and Jamison played the whole game so Duigan was just a HB, but otherwise yep. Spot on.

Read somewhere that Murphy was seen yesterday with his knee bandaged...does anyone have any news on this?
