Must be desperate for threads but here goes
1 fevola 2 Simpson 3 Murphy 4 Whitnall others dont rate a mention Stevens is too soft and Scotland whilst ok is the greatest example of how possessions are almost meaningless. Give youngsters another 3 years and we will be mentioning many more. Admire Bentick but needs to improve his disposal and decision making and needs more time on the ground. But he is super tough.

Oh well I mentioned them anyway.

But Synners you've got it wrong not having Lance on your list . If (and yes, I know the IF) he continues the way he's going at present we'll have a great leader of a young side who the younger guys will look up to. I truly can't find fault with his season to date

It's probably your hate for Stevo thats clouding your vision BH.

Lance has been taken to the cleaners several times this season and he made some dreadful mistakes last week. At least 3 directly resulted in opposition goals.
Not counting the goals kicked on him by his opponent.

Take off the anti Stevo shades and have a look.

I gotta get me some Anti-Stevo shades, I'd enjoy the footy a lot more.

I agree Lance has been beaten on a few occasions in games, that's going to happen to any player. But to indirectly compare his season to Stevens' is a battle that no debater could win. I can't fault Lance's endeavour or ability over the 14 rounds we've played though. He's given us plenty.

Stevens is a player that we should be speaking about in similar terms 'he's given us plenty'. He's given us squat.

And I reserve the right to have double standards

I'd rate Blackwell, Bentick, Carazzo above him currently.

LMAO Do you watch any footy at all? :garthp:

Yes I do, and from what I've seen, in a good side, Stevens would be hard pressed making the ones.

He's been bordering on a liability this season.

Why don't you enlighten us, oh wise one?
I think he'd walk into any side. Under a decent coach and a better game plan, he'd star. He's a class act.

He should be a class act. He seems utterly disinterested at times. Stars don't do that.

Riccutio, McLeod, Judd, et al don't act like that.

I'm disappointed in the way he's been this year.

Prove me wrong, Nick! Dare ya!

Maybe it's because I don't have huge expectations of Stevens (he was a second-round draft pick who turned into a good, solid player), but I don't think he's under-delivered to any great degree for Carlton.

Forget the hype of the pre-season draft and the tug-of-hate between the Power and Collingwood, and the over-the-odds salary ANY player being poached receives... forget all that baggage, and I think it's easier to assess his output rationally.

Also, Ricciuto, McLeod and Judd are CHAMPIONS. That's why they have 2 Brownlows and 3 Norm Smith medals between them. Unfair to compare a Nick Stevens with genuine icons of the modern era, such as these guys.

As an aside though, I wonder what McLeod's attitude would be like playing for 3 years in a side with something like a 20% winning record? I think we all noticed a visible difference in his game post-Gary Ayres.

Fair enough John, but even then I think he's playing like a disinterested $150k a year 2 bit midfielder, and nothing like a player paid at least double that and then some (and yep, ignoring the inflated prices the PSD commands).

We've seen him play good football before, but it's the effort, the laziness and the general lack of interest that shits me and I suspect others. Carrying an injury? Yeah, probably . As I've said before though at round 14 or so, which midfielder in the league is 100%?

First and foremost, I reckon accountability wouldn't be too much to ask. Responsibility for a man. Then we can look at more complicated things like winning the ball, kicking to a team mate and god forbid, laying an effective tackle.

But BH, he gets the best tagger every week....

I agree totally.

He should be able to turn his for round if he wants to

Stevens isn't the only top midfielder struggling to play his best in a poor side. Simon Black and Luke Power are not playing to the level they were three years ago now that the Lions have fallen. They would be even less effective in our side.

Was it you on the radio, BH, calling Stevo a bludger last week?

Started something on the match-discussion!!
