mark harvey would be as popular and effective at carlton as ian stewart was during his time at princes park; as in tune with the culture of the club as robert walls was at tigerland; and he has as much street cred as paul feltham displayed with the bears. harvey and carlton do not fit and it just will not happen.

you know what will happen, we'll change coach and then the moment the new coach arrives we'll start winning games and be a good team again because denis was developing all the youngsters and then someone will come and reap the rewards of pagan's hard work.

...or maybe a new coach will bring a fresh & more precise approach to training methods, game plans and individual player development which will change the basic mindest of the bulk of the playing group which might create a greater confidence in them to display their natural elite talents? hmm?

Two years ago, underocover of darkness Harvey took all the "Baby Bombers" along to the hallowed turf of the MCG. With him he took the 1993 Premiership Cup.

They sat around in a little circle in the middle of the ground whilst Harvey told them stories of the 1993 Grand final.

Why did he do that? Because he belived that the young group he had assembled before him were the most talented youny group of footballers to join the club since Hird, Mercuri, Misiti etc. HE TRULY BELIEVED THEY COULD WIN THE FLAG IN 2005.......

What a fool...

If only Campo was there

I heard him being interviewed once.........at 3qtr time of the 99PF. Quitely confident was young Harvs :P

Pagan gone, I'm not so sure. The additional $$ needed to pay him out can go to upgrading our training facilities, extra training assistants, hiring a decent sporting psychologist to reverse the damage inflicted in our players psyche!

I'd be looking at John Longmire or Guy McKenna for the job as well. Pagan hasn't really had much of a chance at Carlton from the start but the sad fact is that with a history of failure at the club behind him he can't really fully convince the players that his way is the way forward.

If he is gone I hope for 2 things

a) his replacement gets a minimum 3 years no matter what (beware the honeymoon period)

b) we are extsenive, creative and professional in our search for a replacement

Is that cause he's cold calling them looking for a gig next season?

I agree with b) but I disagree with a)
2 years maximum IMO. If the coach is doing the right things and progressing the playing group during the 2nd year of the contract he should get a 2 year extension and so on. 3 years locked in is too long I reckon because the style of game can change so quickly these days and a coach can lose his way pretty quickly.

Will only accept Mark Harvey if we also get Brian Mannix as an assistant.

I'm all for "outsiders" coaching Carlton however am suspicious of past players from Essendon*, Richmond or Collingwood.

Pagan has 2 more years on his contract and in this time we won't achieve much no matter who is coaching us. Lets wait at least another year before changing coaches.

Richmond and Collingwood fair enough.

Lets see Essondon - Bannister and Mcgrath - Never going to be stars but they certainly give it their all for a shit side.

Manton - attitude aside he was a pretty handy footballer given he was of the stuck in no mans land size.

Justin Madden - From memory he really stuck it up Sheedys arse.

Overall I think we have done well out of trades from Essendon*.

That aside dont know that Harvey is what we want.

I would have thought it would be Akermanis as his assistant but damn he has a contract with Brisbane next year.
