Sporn should be traded to adelaide. They were after him last year but he failed a bone density test and they pulled out. His VFL performances should show them that he's still trying hard, but given the quality of this draft and the stigma attached to trading away picks we wont get anything decent for him. But if he's a candidate for delisting we should through up a scenario whereby we give up our 3rd or 4th round pick with Sporn for Adelaide's 2nd rounder. Given that we will likely finish at either ends of the ladder, the improvement in picks is pretty small, but every bit helps and it would give trent another 2 years to crack the afl.

He'd have to get 40+ possies, six+ goals, knock out Barry Hall with a legit H&S, invent a viable fossil fuel alternative using only fingernail clippings and old cosmo magazines, kill Gerard Healy and make the channel nine network entertaining next Sunday to make me even consider keeping him.

No. Would be a bonus to get a draft pick for him.

He is gone! what has he done in the last 5 years? has he improved at all, has he grown any muscles? absolutely nothing.
Farewell game for sporn this week, chair him off at the end of the game.

If Adelaide have any interest... Possibly use him as leverage to claim Meesen?
"Hey, Neil, Meesen is going to come to us in the PSD for free... but if you want to... We'll give you Sporn for him right now and be done with it."

Or... perhaps... Skipworth? He hardly gets a game for them as it is, and looks okay...

Do we seriously want to move forward as a club and play finals any time before 2010? If so we need to use this draft to bite the bullet and burn the deadwood. Sporn is not our future and will only play Bullants next year if kept like Livo, Teague, Prender etc etc etc.

He is not urgent enough, and was one of a few who had significant concentratoin lapses yesterday. To me, he does not have enough upside to compensate for his lack of intensity. I would try to trade him.

Sporn is ok.. like 90% of our list...

But he also hasnt been played to his strengths.. and has been another of the 'redhead matches' in Denis' portfolio of players burnt under his care of development.

Looked pretty good to me before Denis got his hands on him with his crash bang style of footy that we no longer play... but did play for three memorable years before we decided we were wrong and wasted three years of development....

I hope Sporn does play a blinder against Sydney, and the Crows are impressed by the fact that he is a south Australian without Ross River fever.

Surely one Mighty Sporn is worth something in a trade for ex-Vics from Adelaide?

Maybe on the way back from Sydney this week the club should throw him in the Murray river and he can swim downstream all the way to South Australia to Sporn.

That's a great idea, but fish actually sporn upstream  He might end up playing for Corryong.

Maybe we could trade him for Massie :P .

Give me draft picks over ex-vics from the Crows anyday. The Massie/Eccles deal has left me scarred.

I still think Sporn has a future. He's finally got himself an AFL physique - for too long he had arms like Nick Stevens. Now he seems more defined & that only comes from lots of work on the track & in the gym and that has to mean that he's able to work harder during games.

Not even a combination of Matthews, Kennedy and Jeans could have got anything out of the "big 3" - Livingston, Sporn and Wiggins.

Blame the recruiters not Pagan for that one. Time to cut our losses and cull.

You're right - Campo's a down-stream-sporner

Do you base that statement on fact or fiction? My guessing is the later. Really we don't know what any coach could have done with them because they have only had Pago Pago (with a little bit of little Brittain thrown in at the start).

I hope that Sporn plays a blinder this weekend. I would like our club to have difficult choices.

Unfortunately for Sporn, it's time to go.
I hope he gets a chance elsewhere and blossoms, but I don't see it happening at Carlton.
Regards Pedro.

15 other coaches will have an opportunity to draft some of those players at the end of the season. We will all have to wait and see firstly, whether they get drafted and secondly whether they are any better?

Sporn is Victorian.
