Hi there C-Deux.

The only thing Archer has that Teague doesn't is agression. Both players have the basic footy skills, courage, selflessness and willingness, but Teague will never be as good a Archer until he scares people. Looking a million bucks doesn't help his cause, but fierce aggression is needed to intimidate opponents and run through the midfield with ball cradled in one arm, with the other sticking out pressing against oncoming opponents - gridiron style. I wish Teague can be this kind of player, if he does, then he'll be a 200 or 300 game player.

'Teaguey' is still my favorite player, but if he wants to become a Carlton legend, he has to do what Voss did and turn face, become an angry man/sledger/psycho. When Voss won the Brownlow and before Leigh came in, he was just a highly skilled smart selfless player, but to win a Premiership, Voss needed to add agression to that list. If Voss didn't do this, I believe Brisbane won't have a single cup in their closet.

Teaguey does have the skills (or the basic ones at least), he can read the play or ball well enough and he is a good defender. He just needs opponents two feel his presence, then he'll become a great player. So the BNF Champ needs to turn face and be a psycho.

Anyway, if you need reminding of who the great Champ is, put him on your desktop here.
HERE.

The crazy, amazingly unbelievable thing Teague has that Archer doesn't is a best and fairest. WTF?

Amazing stat in today's Herald-Sun is that Teague is leading the team in tackles and spoils

Quote:
THE VITAL STATS

CLUB LEADERS

Goals Brendan Fevola 33

Kicks Scott Camporeale 183

Marks Jarrad Waite 78

Handballs Anthony Koutoufides 124

Clearances Anthony Koutoufides 80

Clangers Matthew Lappin 34

Tackles David Teague 39

Hitouts Barnaby French 181

Goal assists Jarrad Waite 10

Inside 50s Scott Camporeale 61

Spoils David Teague 36

Most benchings Eddie Betts 32

Most game time Anthony Koutoufides 1578min

Players used every game 5 of 34

Spoils I can understand as he's played more games down back than Thornton, Livo, Morrel, Norman, DeLuca etc.

But tackles???? 39 in 12 games played, a touch over 3 a game and none of our midfielder's average better than that?

Also i have heard that there are some problems at board level, to many people are trying to voice there own opinions when it comes to how and what direction this club should take. Under the Elliot regime he was a dictator he made the decisions and know that the club is struggling bigtime we need this type of leadership i feel maybe someone like Fitzpatrick or even Wes lofts.

Fair dinkum?
We have people on the board who want to voice their opinion?
Unheard of!!!
Are you serious???

what i meant is that there are to many on the board who believe there way is the right way this is causing some issues i understand that 2 board members even go out of there ways to avoid each other. This has come from a semi reliable source

I said it then and i say it with much more disgust now. Fancy him winning our b&f over lappin etc.

IMO he should have come about 6th. For him and scotto to be playing the way they are, is completely unacceptable. They have the break.... let's hope something can be learnt over that period.

The fact is we did once this year have talent, like Richmond. Both sides are terribly fragile mentally and physically when the big guns are out for their teams.

I'm not concede this will continue for the next few years. I believe we will be in the 8 by 2007.

I like teague he is a courageous player but if it is true that he is not happy Im not sure teague has much to complain about - we resurrected his career last year - 12 months after stating that the players at north were much better off under laidley than Pagan and then laidley dropped him to the reserves for about 14 weeks early in that season - and to be honest performance this year has been less than average and is lucky he hasnt played more games in the vfl

I think there is a spot for Teague...old fashioned half back like Andy McKay but needs the MC and coach to find him the right matchups.....not ruckman or quicker athletic players like he has been getting...

Unfortunately there's not a lot of slow, short players running around in opposition forward lines.

I think Teague has to learn to play on blokes that are either faster than him or taller. IMHO he's better on the taller players as he plays pretty tall and they often give him more opportunites to zone off.

If our backline was playing as a team and helping each other, we wouldn't be having this conversation. Our biggest problem this season is that our backline has not been settled and is divided up into one on one contests too easily.

Thats not our biggest problem, the biggets problem is the midfield aren't accountable so not only is the ball coming in under little pressure, but we also have loose opposition players in the D50....so they're not one on one contests.

Yeah, I see your point TBB.

But if our defence actually intercepted a move forward, they could get the ball back to our midfielders who happened to be 30m away from their opponent, therefore forcing the opposition midfielder to be more accountable to us for a change.

Anyway, how about I re-phrase my comment to "One of our main problems......."

It's probably more indicative of where we are at.

He can play on taller players within reason but not ruckman or blokes like Tredrae...think of the blokes Andy McKay would take and those are the type of player Teague should get...

I guess its a case of which came first, the chicken or the egg.

Defenders might be able to take the gamble of intercepting if they didn't get burned everytime and eventually dropped for it.

Teague needs to be playing on the 3rd tall, or the smallest tall I guess after Thornton and Livo. I think its speed rather than height that has worried him actually.

Speaking of Karl, any chance of a senior recall for him?

Phil Matera.

I think he's easily the biggest disappointment this season
