Marc will make up his mind ... he certainly hasnt made up his mind to play for Brissy yet...

And yes garth.. Marc can choose where he wishes to play...

As for Kosi... for a club to put any kind of pressure on him to leave he has to be offered big money with a long term contract (ie 5 years) cos security is something Kosi would be looking for.
I doubt StKilda could offer Kosi 5 years x 500k .

Even if he doesnt come the pressure remains on StKilda ....

:D

So you're suggesting that Campo won't be in our next premiership side but a plod like Kosi, if we got him, would?

I like Kossy but not sure how good he is going to be. I klnow he has been injured but apart from the last 2 weeks he has hardly done anything in his career. A big versatile and dependable player is all I have seen. I was at the game yesterday and he moved well and was very impressed but not convinced he is a gun yet.
Would offer him a decent contract though. He is worth 350K a season at the moment. Would pay over the odds at 400 to 450k to entice him and a 3 year contract. A bit of a risk but even if he just plays CHB he would give us some presence and value there.
Time to use all the salary cap we have to get someone over here. Even if it just scares the other clubs into paying way to much for the future to keep everyone.
900K to get Kossy and Mal sounds all good to me.

If we had Campo in our side wed be last....and directionless
If we had Kosi in our side wed have a young target man / power forward.

id hate to see us offer kosi a 5 year deal for him to then come , perform for a year or two and then drop right off.

HE would be our new lance and we would look somewhat hypocritical then wouldnt we...??

It would give you a future whipping boy though Synbad

Synbad do you honestly believe that Kosi would leave an extremely talented team to go to an extremely weak team? Doubt whether the big dollars will tempt Kosi, let alone many other top flight footballers. We may need to be happy to pick up a Cat midfielder or a Freo player

RW, i dont think Kosi will come but just putting the screws on StKilda is worth it.

One thing about Kosi is he DOES NOT have a position at StKilda.. no matter what the Saints jokers tell us. He isnt their ruckman... Ackland is..
Kosi is a nothing position player there...

the other thing is Kosi has had an injury plagued career.. which means he would be likely to be looking for security.
Just because he has been injury plagued doesnt mean he will be forever...

Then again maybe he will...

Still... i dont see where we will spend our money and id certainly take him on a five year contract if he was fair dinkum.
Take a punt.. you either give long term contracts to old players like Kouta Campo etc.., late 20s or you give it to a young power forward who can stamp himself on a game... and blossom outside of the shadow of Riewoldt.

Brisbane took a 10 year punt on Alistair Lynch (10 years @ 180,000 pa) everyone thought they were crazy, and maybe it looked pretty bad whilst he suffered from Chronic Fatigue Syndrome but the last 3 years at $180,00 per annum was pretty cheap for them.

Was actually thinking that before - what would happen, don't you have to pay at least 92.5% of the cap?

If we fail to land a big name player on a big contract, and re-sign Campo for let's say 150k and Lance for significantly less etc then what happens if we're not 92.5% of the cap? Would have to be a possibility wouldn't it?

Well if you were aa lateral thinker youd pay a little more to your good young players like T Bird Fisher Waite and Walker... and front load alleviating room for future years.
Youre going to come last or thereabouts next year too... so another player in the PSD to go with whoever you get this year and youre better off.

PS who said Lance Campo etc are definites next year?????

We might clear up the whole of that salary cap space....

... oh!!! and i love it!!!!

The ' Linda Evangelistas' of football...

These blokes better pull their fingers out quick smart...!!!

Thats why offering huge money to get someone is a good idea. Anything that keeps our precious draft picks is what we need to do. Kouta will retire next year and his 600k (300k is counted on the vet list) will also be gone. Might be a problem down the line but then we will be in a better position to keep players as we will be a decent team in 3 yeras time.

Do we want to pay Campo and Whitnall 500k plus again?

I prefer to pay half that or less if they stay (prefer they are traded) and pay over the odds to get someone significantly better than what we have at the moment.
Power, Mal, Kossy fit that bill. Do not know who else. Geelong still have Joel Corey, James Bartel, Paul Chapman and Steve Johnson still available.
Wirripunda and Hunter are also out of contract next year.

Throw heaps at Kosi and the Saints will feel the squeeze. They may hang onto all their players this year, but apply the screws again next year and someone will get squirted out, especially if they're not on flag pace.

It worries me that we could be offering big bucks around while other teams are sniffing around some of our good kids like Walker or Thornton who might decide they'd like to go to a club with a better chance of winning games or at least with a bit of team cohesion.

I think our team cohesion amongst the guys that count ( youngens - the ones with talent - not the oldies ) is fine, they all stay back at the club and play ping pong together.

Kosi will make Walker and Thorntons situation easier.
The wont go anywhere .... they will if we dont improve our playing stocks though...

I came to think about what would a guy like Kosi be worth to us. ???

What would you give up to draft a REAL CHF especially a POWER CHF to this club.????
What would you offer him???

Personally for me????

Whatever it took...!!!!!!!

A long contract at a half a million Id pay for him to walk.

He does have a position...

It's called RUCK and rests in the Forward Line

don't you watch the game????

Well I do watch the game and I could have sworn Ackland is your ruckman or was him trying to tap the ball to advantage when the ball is bounced a mistake??
