So Brown and Ratten only got the ball because of Madden and Allen eh???

Hey youre an astute football observer...

PS Campo was paid more than any of those blokes you just mentioned and did the least.

And my post count isnt too bad eh???
You have afew going for one so clueless about the goings on of the footy club...

Must mostly be in 'Talking Fun'

Guys,

This was meant to be a positive thread. There are plenty of other negative threads to continue this argument. As bad as things are at present, Camporeale has played some great football for our club and that is what I want to be reading in this thread.

Thankyou,

Matt.

Well said.

Synbad you know I respect your views and realise you are far closer to the action than I am but whatever has happened in the last four or five years Campo has been an integral member of the club. He may not deserve what he is asking for but he does deserve a little respect.

I made that point to Synbad the astute football observer , but every thread is simply another reason to attack Camporeale and pump up his ego.

Check the hard ball get stats in the AFL record. Houla has more HBG than Campo. Stats don't lie.

I have enjoyed watching Campo over the years. His debut season in the AFL was one of the best I've seen. (Still gutted that he lost the Norwich Rising Star award to that hack Nick Holland.... he was robbed!) He slotted in beautifully to our premiership winning midfield, and has been a great outside midfielder in the Bradley mould.

He has provided plenty of on-field highlights, but what I have always loved about Scotty was the way he would get in the face of his opponents and really p!ss them off. He's never afraid to go toe to toe with anyone. The day he broke Brodie Holland's nose was also a highlight!!

All this talk about his contract is unfair. It's sad that just because he plays footy, what he earns suddenly becomes public domain.

All I know is that he's human. For example, if I was paid 100k per year for my job that I did 7 days per week and put my body on the line for, only to be told one day that it would be halved, I'd try and fight it too.

It's unfair to blame Campo. What about taking a long hard look at the people that decided to pay him that much in the first place. It's the same bloke that overpaid everyone and put the club where it is today.

Do you know why he does this? Because he is mentally weak. Bradley, Judd, Buckley etc run all day trying to break the tag. You always hear of taggers saying that they threw up at half time playing on these blokes because their work rate is so high. I wonder how many would say that after playing on Campo? Probably zero. He's too gutless to run as hard as he should so he just gets in their face and tries to play the tough guy, pathetic stuff really.

Carlton God
Fair and balanced.

Agree. I think that people on here take the higher moral ground because they're not in Campo's situation. The fact is that if you were offered that much money, of course you'd take it, you'd be mad to not take it. The blame rests at the feet of the previous regime, not at Camporeale, because anyone in their right mind would take what he's getting paid.

You work with what you've got. If you can't break tackles like Judd, and let's face it Campo doesn't have what you'd call a solid build, then you use other tactics to put your opponent off their game.

That's the way he's always played, even in his first year and I'm sure you would have been pretty happy with him back then.

I love being a Carlton supporter, but I'm sickened by how quickly we turned on our own. We've been given a pretty good ride with this club, and now it's fallen on hard times. Instead of behaving like a spoiled children, let's SUPPORT our team.

We are on the bottom of the ladder, we're not very good. Let's come to terms with it and start looking at the positives for the future, rather than looking for someone to blame.

I recall a game I attended against Port Adelaide at Optus in 2000 when Campo was credited with no less than 41 touches.

Craig Bradley had 45.

Carlton won by about 100 points.

Those were the days!

Does anyone else recall that game?

Hey Elroy. Nice to see you again.

I did agree with you on this game. He and Bradley played a great game doing what they do best.

I reckon in 10 years we'll be talking about the day Wiggo had 45 touches in 2007 playing off the HBF :D

Thanks Blues2005. That's exactly the point I'm trying to make. It's unfair that a handful of players are made to be the scapegoats.

Been on way too much for way too long and not delivering...

Now he wants way too much for way too long not to deliver.

Sick of these ball and chains...

I want the club to pick itself back up off the floor...!!!!!

So Synbad, if you were in charge of re-shaping the list, who would be the first two players to go at the end of the season?

I don't think you've ever made your feelings on this known.

Keep attacking the person instead of the post and soon you'll have Denis convinced!
