Well AGRO the way some carry on, the PP will win a Premiership off his own boot next year, of course we all know it is a little more difficult than that.

No one has explored how well the Brisbane Bears youngsters are going despite the Bears not getting low picks for a number of years.

It is not the Pick that will win you a Premiership, it is the quality of the development you put into them that will.

When will you people understand that the only way to win a premiership is by winning 2 wooden spoons and a host of top5 picks. Look at WestCoast, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Geelong .... all spent time down at 16th didn't they.

When you have been deprived of draft picks in 2002 and 2003 then I think you need that elite talent. WC and others have had there years down the bottom as well.

Never been a tanker, but after this season from hell we deserve the PP. If only we hadn't drawn with Port....Anyway, unless Port completely lay down they should win, especially after their woeful performance against North. I like the above scenario of losing 3 and beating the Bombers. The loss against the Pies will hurt them much more than us.

The thing that is most scary is how good an injury run we've had. Even with only a couple of significant injuries we are severely weakened, but we've had by far the fewest players on the injury list over the season.

Last time I looked those teams didn't get excluded from the draft for two years after winning the Spoon... pffftt... who needs draft picks!

Some people just do not get it. I am not advocating not having picks, what I am saying and have saying for a long time is just getting picks will not solve the problem nor win us a Premiership. It is the development that you put into players, particularly the 'average' players that in the end, that counts.

You can have all the talent in the world, but if it is not developed properly you are not going to do a thing.

Hmm, I wonder where most of the average players get selected from, must be from Picks 1 to 10, couldn't be those likely champions from Picks 11+.

you guys just dont get it do you.

lets lose the rest of the games this season and finish with 3 1/2 wins.

we get picks 1 & 3 - we get murph and ellis and all is rosy.

but then tradegy hits.

Ellis and Murph both involved in a car accident (i hope it never happens) on their way to their first training session with the blues and both survive but will no longer be able to play sport, let alone at elite levels.

So after "tanking" we got our picks - but they didnt work out due to "situations beyond our control"

that is the key word here isnt it.

situations beyond our control

getting these players arent going to guarantee anything. If we missed out on these players whats to say that our ppick 7 might not turn into a super star. If we get these kids, whats to say that they dont turn into flops a.k.a Courtney Johns how does look talented from the limited times ive seen him but has a career destroyed becuase his body is not capable of handling AFL football.

Too many "situations beyond our control" that comes with wanting to lose to secure that first pick.

I hope we win every game for the rest of the season, get pick 6 and then they scrap the flower Priority Pick - its making a mockery of a game that is already a joke to the vast populus.

If we finish last and get the priority pick - fine, but the minute i follow a team that wants to lose, is the minute i stop following that team.

You have no idea prez. That's the stupidest example of why we should not get a PP that I have ever heard! Shit, we better make sure that each of our players fly on a different plane when we travel interstate

And BM we all know that:

1. We are not going to play finals football.
2. We are not even close to playing finals football
3. Rules state that under 5.5 wins we get a Priority pick
4. The best talent is usually found in the low pick area.
5. We need some real talent.
6. Finishing last gives you first pick on an uncontracted senior player

Don't worry about development of players... Pago will do that nicely. We need to concentrating on getting TALENT to this club.

So people like The Prez who advocate winning at all costs will be happy to have picks 4 and 20 rather than pick 1, 3 and 19?

@#$%&! thats short sighted.

Make room for me Synbad, I'm right next to you - front row of this years draft.

So let's win as many games as we can... finish 11th... get pick 6... but let's not pick him in case he get a paper cut which might get gangrene... leading to one arm getting amputated! Love the reasong here Prez.

there is about as much reasoning as suggesting he is going to be the reason we win our next flag.

You finish low and get priority picks then you get who you want in the draft. Your probabilities goes up. A greater chance of getting a gun player.
Greater chance of leveraging a player in the PSD from another club for free or a 1 sided trade.
Remember the priority pick system is not guaranteed to be around next year. Might be moved to the second round or scrapped.
Have to get what we can this year.

and this is why i find it hard to believe the stance you guys take.

i want my team to win every game they ever play.

funnily enough - the shit midfielders we have, tore Richmonds apart yesterday.

you guys are so determined for them to fail so that we can get these early draft picks that it has clouded your opinions of our players.

Carrots and AB looked like damn fine on-ballers to me yesterday and both are still very young as far as dominant footballers go. Simpson is coming along nicely as well.

I guess i just like to win games of football.

What type of supporter am i that wants to watch their team win.

and i will say it again, i would love to get Murphy, if we finish last and get a priority pick then so be it, but i would never, and i hope the club never has the same attitude as some of you clowns.

BM or Prez or whoever.... name me one poster in TC who says that getting a NO.1 pick will guarantee us the Flag... just one name???? Or is it that you guys are basing your arguments on a figment of your own imagination?

(I can foresee a migraine coming up for MrsC.... we've been thru this same argument how many times already????)

Go back and read the threads before the Hawthorn game. ;)

Oh, btw, I'm on your "side", but I just think the hysteria at willing us to lose is a bit much to handle.

I need an extra seat, to carry my violin case - cause I reckon from the front row I would get a clear shot of "The Spew" & "Rotten Ron".

Just make sure you knock off "the spew" after he calls out Murphy's name
