David Clarke is a possible champion too... he has actually played 100 games..He just needs a chance.

Bentick WONT be a champion but he might be a serviceable player.. doesnt make him A grade material .

I think we are getting too carried away with our fantastic list.

I am going to hold you to that Synbad. :-D

My tip is that Bentick will play 200 games and captain this club.
If he does, you were wrong for the right reasons. :-D

see Synbad that's what I mean, you are terrified of a maybe because it then goes against your tank at all costs.

You've got your PP's not forget it, save that stuff for around round 11 next year when we are struggling and you feel it your duty to condemn every thread to another tanking debate.

Will AB be a champion, probably not, but gee I hope so.

Will Clarke be a champion? No.

And if you cannot tell the difference between those two then why bother talking to you? Stay on track with the argument or don't bother saying anything at all - its a simple rule you should try sometime.

And I'll agree with GWS. I see an awareness in AB that I don't see in any of the other youngsters, so I hope that awareness takes him places. I also note the 4 players Synbad compares him with all have one ingredient he lacks .... pace.

I am now aware of your awareness of the awareness of Adam Bentick...

His disposal is also too short to be very effective.

How far could Desiel kick? I mean really, the odds are in your favour, just as the odds were in Carlton's favour when they twice looked at Desiel and said 'nup'.

But if we lose sight of the fact they are just odds and not concrete slabs of certainty then I doubt we'll ever do more than rotisserate between 10th and bottom.

So youre comparing Bentick to Diesel are you??
Look dannyboy.. take it easy.. just get realistic and remember this is 2005.. not the 1970s..
Were at the bottom .. the cupboard is very bare...

We need more... much much more...

Your right from now on I will simply write

we are shit
we are shit
we are shit

Of course when these kids start to dominate (and some of them will) remember to take all the glory for it oh runner of all great things.
Oh and the cupboard is not bare. Sure its only got kiddies clothes in it and a few old threadbare rags that were once favourittes, but those new clothes will grow on us and we'll add more and filkl it, but it is not bare

though again we must say it is bare to stress our need to tank this year (and next, and the year after - oh I''m shaking in my knees the holy Trinity of Tanks - three in a row)

Hallalujah brothers! I see the light -

or as some old band once sang

Tank for Tanks sake!

True but hardly relevant.

Bentick's got a lot of potential upside which has nothing to do with the fact that we need to bring a shitload of talented players to the club.

Last night on The New Inventors there was this guy who'd invented a fishing reel with a built in pulsing action. Makes the lure irresistible to the little suckers.

Synbad might have a little problem with relevance and he's one of the most stubborn pricks I've ever met but I reckon he's proven over a long period that he has his finger on the pulse.

You're not a little sucker are you danny?

If you keep biting...

saw that lure - he should have one and I want one! No, I bite because I feel if I don't (and this goes to the heart of why i felt like dropping away a week or so ago) then this site will become flat, already many of the posters I love actually inhabit the open forum (Warren's domain), I fear most will be lost because Synbad does insist on turning everything inot a speech about the need to finish last to get picks.

I think there are others things to talk about.

Like I'd love it if they'd play Livo at FF on the weekend. Might be stupid, he might not have it etc etc, but shit I'd love it. And if they did I'd hope for the kid's sake he goes out and kicks a bag! Now everyone can explain to me how that would never happen, but I'd still travel to the game hoping

Yeah I understand. It's like Sydney Blue for me. It's that giant pink ribbbon tied to his big purple bum that does it for me every time. Hard to resist but you know it's not going to make you any happier.

Problem is by consistently biting doesn't it just have the same result?

Anyone ever noticed how baboon and buffoon are really similar words...?

The sad thing is Synbad really knows his football so there is some good stuff to read in amongst the constant repitition.

It has driven people away, and the board is much the poorer for it.

I just hope Synbad reverts back to 'Nice Synbad' once the PP's are in the bag, and our pre-2002 contracts are no longer.

Then hopefully more people will start participating in discussions in here again and they might become more varied and interesting as a result.

Just have to ride it out and see what happens at years end.

see GWS thats exactly why i thought i should quit, because you are right, biting just adds to it. So this has become a Hamlet for me, a to Bite or not to Bite....

and like hamlet I am sure I am boring people (cue bluemumma) but inside allt his dark angst is a really cute guy just trying to love the carlton football club. 8)

AS I said in the training thread, the thought of Livo playing full forward conjures up all sorts of images.

He's turned into a big boy...would he be a wrestling type full forward like Lynch? When he was young he was damn quick...does he still have toe and pace off the mark? What's his kicking for goal like?

Maybe he'd be woeful?

I'd love to find out the answer to some of these questions on Sunday.

My partner's mother told my daughter a story last night after miniGWS had turned on an A grade (only get these with PPs) tantrum.

Apparently when she was a little girl she had a tanty because she wanted a carrot and they didn't have any. She went to bed and screamed herself to sleep and when she woke up her father (having gone out and procured the absent umbelliferae) had placed a carrot beside her and she kept it next to her bed for some weeks.

True story told with not a hint of sauce.

Which just goes to show that there are other things we can discuss and even if we slip in a reference to PPs (see above) they can still be enlightening (to me anyway).

great post dannyboy....you capture the essence of it all.......i am very tired of the ego of "who knows best" and the same old discussion.

what if Livo kicKed a bag and mark of the year?...he'd have a summer to salivate and wonder

what if chris Bryan played on Sav and kept him goal less?....he would believe he had made it

what if wiggo played in the middle and had 30+ possessions?.... we'd figure our on ball divsion was suddenly looking better...and well wiggo might just start to believe

what if? what if?...........

what if we ever forgot to dream and wonder....

will we get pick 1 & 4....what if? will marc murphy stay in melb...what if?

what if? what if? what if?

today is the day i was worried about yesterday...

what if? what if? what if?
