I would like to retain Lappin, losing him would cost us 2 or three games(still wouldn't win over 5 games) and a great player to learn off for the younger players..

I thought he took a while to get going tonight against Ireland, starting to have an impact in the third term...

I'd love to see Lappin play out his career with us.

That said, if he has a three year offer to go elsewhere he should probably take it.

Lappin is arrogant to be asking for 3 years.A player at his age can lose it very quickly and can go from a champ to a chump in the space of a month or so.Gary Ayres is a fine example(his playing days)

The club is going through a rough trot financially. After such a long time i say see ya later little boy.Lappin has been one of our better pickups but I was disappointed with him in some games when his mind wasnt exactly on the job.
And once again it highlights what pricks player managers are.Whilst it is the nature of the business, they would still sell their own grandmas for the right price.

All along, the speed of Lappins' mind and reflexes have made him a great player. Without any size, or real speed, he would be a pretty average AFL player without his speed of minf / reflexes.

In mymind he has already started to decline. At age 30 his reflexes are only going to get worse. Some big players can keepplaying for their brawn, some outside midfielders like Bradley and Tuck can keepo going because they are there to run.

Lappin will increasingly get worse and I think 2004 will be his last good year. He deserves a good 2 year contract for loyalty, but 3 years at his age is ridiculous. If he goes because we wont play ball, tehn fine, Good fo Him, I hope he finds some success.

This is a different position to Campo whom I hope finds no success whatsoever.

There's been a bit of movement in negotiations - seems Skinny may take two years after all. The club's a bit more confident - but no deal yet though.

Thanks Kenny.
It will be a sad day if Skinny walks.
Lets hope a fair deal can be done for all concerned.

The retiring of Lekkas did give me concerns today that the Hawks were freeing up some coin.

The Tigers have offered Skinny 3 years... not same coin as ours.. but their 3 years works out to more than our two... Hopefully this becomes the second time Lappin does the right thing for the footy club..
Teagues and manager met with us and talks broke down again yesterday

Because Teague is really in a position to play hardball after the season he just had :?

Perhaps he should take a look at our team sheet. We're not exactly short on flankers.

What are the chances of Teague not being at Carlton next year, Synbad?

hard one about Lappin if he goes he goes, but i doubt he will do a lot in 2 years, he has played his best football already and will start to struggle soon, but derseves a 2 year contract only as he has done a bit for Carlton.

Rather give Lappin a bit more and let Teague walk to be honest. Brave as he is, Teague's limitations are serious - slow, not strong enough to overcome his height deficiency in KP and disposal only average.

The attached link seems to confirm the news that Kenny Hunter broke last evening. Good get mate and lets hope that an announcement can be made very soon.
