No doubt.

There are all types of personalities playing the game, but it still requires a certain ability to "shut off" what's going on around you...both on and off the ground. If you're too sensitive to be able to "shut off", you'd have no chance at all.

Look, I agree. The things people yell are the epitome feralness, and similarly I don't believe being a supporter means being constantly negative. Being caught in the moment is one thing, but that passes in the blink of an eye.

It would be impossible to be an AFL player if you were upset by fans behaviour. You wouldn't even play country or suburban footy if that was the case.

no there is humanity - oodles of it.

Brecht once said the best theatre (or true it might have been) was live sport
because the audience was 'involved' from beining to end.

Our 'actors' should not take themselves, the audience or what they do too seriously, that's for us diehards 8)

There are 3 reasons why some players havent kicked on
1When a club wins 21.5 games over 4years thats pressure on everyone to peform
2Lack of leadership in the senior group
3 Basically not good enough to play consistently at AFL level

I cannot see us improving a great deal in 2006 and the half dozen players mentioned in the line of posts here will be moved on if their contracts are up.

Dear Mr Wonderkidde,

I may be wrong (I often am  ) but I think Mr Man didn't rant against your post. He just highlighted your comment about the players not caring what you think and then made a comment against that.

He then went on to rant against all those others who do behave like mad rabies-ridden lunatics towards our younger and less talented players. Criticism is deserved yes...but not the other.

Yours in perpetual optimism

Words of wisdom; there is no humanity, only fanaticism and apathy.

Gotcha. Tis a fine line at times between criticism and mad rabie ridden lunacy.

Look I hate those harsh horrible middle aged men that yell at our players at games too, but in the position we are in the young players will cop more than their fair share. Why?

Well our seniors are on the way out. Kouta was our best & fairest but even then it was in some games a long way below what we expect. he played lots of minutes but against Essendon*, Richmond, Adelaide and Sydney he was well beaten. Our other seniors like Camporatelli and Lapping and Stevens had bad years. So we cant look to them for improvement.

And our middle rung players are all just honest trudgers, like Teague and Scotland and who else?

So we have no upside in 12 of our best 22, maybe 15. The young players will take all of our hopes for as long as it takes to get back to the top 8.
