We're still sponsored by optus aren't we?

I'm sure it wasn't 50c a message...

Don't know if we are sponsored by Optus.

However I received the SMS and it came from a +61429 prefix which is a Telstra prefix so Optus would not have had anything to do with it.

It's probably been sent by some Marketing Company that Carrlton have commissoned to send the messages. These companies would have agreements with their service providers, in this case Telstra, and would be able to send thousands of messages at a fraction of the price a normal consumer would be charged.

Just in time for the players to be presented to the fans Bort. Good timing I would say!

And hopefully after the presentations the players will still be available for autographs and photos, as that's what my sons most like about the FDs.

I just downloaded the flyer now.

Good point Agro. It's difficult when conflicting info is being given up. The Club should update that flyer. (And I better keep the SMS as evidence that the day is free for members....)

As a member I wouldn't mind paying $10 to get in, if I ended up going on Sunday.

Given that we've had another rev up in the media about going to the AFL for a hand out, if 20,000 members each paid $10 thats $200,000 the club would raise.

I doubt there'll be close to 20,000 members there, irrespective of whether there's free entry ot not.

Whether they should charge for entry, depends on what the aim of the FD is, I guess. It is a money raiser or a day for all the members (to use an either/or scenerio)? Giving free entry for members will probably help in selling some more memberships. It also frees up some money that can be spent on the souvenir stalls, etc. As a marketing exercise I imagine the cost of making it free is out-weighed by the benefits.
