I can't believe people are not renewing their memberships because of this. The team that has given us more great times than any other club. The team that has given us less wooden spoons than any other club. As soon as it gets a bit tough that's it, pack up your bat and ball & go home. It's disgraceful. And I was at the game on Saturday & the Richmond & Essendon* games last year & the Kangaroos game before that. And yes those days were absolutely shocking but I can name at least 30 better games, happier times that the club has given me.

I will remember this very thread when we are back on track & be proud that I stuck by the team even through the most horrendous time. It's a shame there are others who are only in it for the good times. :garthp:

I can't believe the players effort is under question.

They played a terrible brand of football, going short and zig zagging across the ground. You could hear the players talking, telling each other to go long. The runner came out at one stage in the 1st quarter and shouted out to go long, but they still went short.

:?

so are you bagging the players or not? i cant work it out on that statement.

:?

look, with the exception of Ryan Houilhan, i very very rarely actively give carlton players a serve, but the game on the weekend was beyond shit.

either, they are instructed to do it, or they did it themselves, either wya, it was flower crap football, and i expect more.

There's a difference between their effort and their ability to carry out instructions and follow a game plan that makes some sense.

I think it was an aberation. I was extremely disappointed, but I expect them to work on going longer and stop fiddling around during the week.

Its not all doom and gloom, they just need some mental tweaking.

To anyone thinking of not taking out a membership this season - I would recommend you dust of a copy off "Life of Brian" and look at the last scene.

Ve are the Judean People's Front. Crack suicide squad. Suicide squad! Attack!

[drum roll]

J.P.F.: Uh! Ugh. Aggh...

OTTO: That showed 'em, huh? Oooh. [whump]

Dont buy a membership "That sure showed them didn't it"

You cant help but feel a little sorry for the club at the moment. We get bundled out of the NAB Cup just a day before the big Family Day. That same Family Day is washed out at about the most important time of the year for memberships. To make ammends the club organises a special day for mebers and puts on a praccy game to get the faithful along............and then gets belted by Port Adelaide in front of the faithful!!!! It's almost like a Ben Stiller film, we cant cop a trick at the moment!

You gots to chill!!! Im pretty sure the peanuts that rang up the radio station probably arent members of TC. I guess many of the posters on here would consider themselves 'hard core' and will probably buy memberships come hail or shine. It's the fly-by blow ins that will come and go. It's easy to say we dont need them but with our perilous financial statement possibly we do!!! Lets keep a lid on it at the moment.

In the risk of getting shouted down, I wonder whether some posters on this board have really understood what kind of results the St.Kildas, Sydneys, Melbournes, were getting when they were in the rebuilding phase we are in? These teams would get shallackings, often at the end of a Carlton game. Why? Because the players were young, inexperienced-the sides were still forming their game plans etc.

Ok, maybe in due course it may be another coach that will more out of the players. But c'mon, let's keep our cool and realize that rebuilding phases with youth will inevitable mean there STILL will be thumpings. Go ahead and look at results from the Bulldogs and Demons etc the year before they came out of hiatus. They would get thumped. They were at the bottom of the ladder. Even just weeks before before these teams rose from the ashes to sget more consistent wins and compete in finals they were belted.

What I am suggesting is, we need to live in reality....And give it time-at least let's see where we are at at the end of the season to decide whether the development is where it should be. And whether a change of coach is just the ticket.

Now about supporting the Blues.... I live in Sydney. I only get down to see 4 or 5 games a year. But I am proud to be a Gold member and to have my 4 year old son as a Gold (adult paying) member. Because I am committed to the team, the Club and our future.

Have been following the blues for over 55 years and have never been more ashamed of my fellow supporters of the CFC - The Mighty Blues and particulalrly posters on TC and TBV I have no regets in renewing my 4 memberships and will go on doing so as long as Mrs Acudoc, Dongatwitch and Harri want to see our club play the best football they can manage. Sure there are obviously problems on the ground and maybe off the ground. We would all be better if some posters stopped throwing their dummies and rattles out of their prams to get attention from the rest of us. Obviously Kinder is still in recess.

Great posts guys... it's posts like these that make me want to come back and start reading the main board again... sometimes!

I'm all for being realistic, but honesyly we need a hell of a lot more possitivity around the club... for @#$%&! sake people, what good is bagging the shit out of everyone and everything each week going to do?

As for being "the worst game we've ever played" - as Deano said, it's a bloody practice match! I used to go to practice matches in the 80s where we got absolutely belted, as the senior players, who we all know can play, don't go 100%. Bad practice match form means stuff all.

Having said that, I don't expect us to be anywhere near the top 8 this year, but that wont stop me from supporting my team, and will certainly never stop me from being a member. It's like a marriage... in sickness and in health!

Means large font headlines in the sunday papers.

Means negative talkback on the radio.

Means people don't renew memberships hence the topic of this thread.

Means Ian Collins comes out after announcing our debt that the performance was totally unacceptable.

Means sponsors think twice about investing. Why hasn't Pagan got coaches box sponsorship?

Means Pagan attempts to convince everybody that this performacne will not happen again. Well in the next few months anyway.

Means the kids confidence would be shattered.

Means more than a practice match to me. The only good thing about it being a practice match was the 4 pts was not up for grabs.

I tore up my membership card up and threw it in the bin!!!!!

But hey don't blame me, Carlton told me to do it..... they sent me a new one in the mail

In all seriousness, we need as many memebers as possible and I think all posters here should be signed up members.... I mean if you are that passionate to spend so much time on supporter sites, then you should spend your money on the club. God knows after today's anouncement we need as many as possible.

This footy club is like family to me. You stick with it through thik and thin.

I bought my memberships in December and to rub salt into the wounds I bought a $300 raffle ticket today for a raffle the club is running. I think the lady who rang me fell over when I said I would buy one, there was silence at the other end of the phone.

We were good, we are currently struggling, we will be good again at some stage. Welcome to the "footy cycle".

:) Membership is very important and the club needs its members more than ever.....Those who choose to desert the club can do so however I just hope they go and support Richmond or the Bulldogs and don't renew their membership when the wheel turns for us.....

I'm pretty bloody impressed with the last couple of pages of this thread. :-D :-D

I cannot agree more with the lot of yah!! If I was to make some kind of statement like 'The club is on notice' and put shitloads of energy into being negative and not buy my membership I would be a total tool. however I could just do it the other way around and put my effort into doing some good for the club.

Soooooo!!!!!!!!!

Get your memberships!!!! Don't post @#$%&! crappy negative bullshit that our boys might pick up on, just bloody support the poor buggers. I love them, and god forbid if anything EVER happened and I didn't have my beloved CFC. Heck!!! Do a bloody collingwood!! BUY YOUR MEMBERSHIPS AND BE FANATICAL!!! Atleast this will ensure our survival...

So what if we have to change our 'supporter' culture. I don't give a rats arse...all I care about is having OUR blueboys run out on THAT park every week. BRING THEM ON!!!

Anybody else hear the bloke ring SEN this morning and give it to Andy Maher for being a Carlton supporter and having a go at the Blues but not being a member himself?? Maher went off and bought a membership in the Ad break after the serve he copped, even quoted the club receipt number on air to prove it!! Good on that caller for ringing in and good on Andy Maher, all credit to him for copping the criticism and buying a membership!!!

Now that's a good news story all around! Thanks 2nd - makes you appreciate those that are hanging tough. AS for Andy not being a member - I can understand that since I only joined in 2002 after supporting all my life..... It was the best decision I ever made....
