Neitz is the only fair dinkum key forward in the Dees lineup.Miller dont kick enough goals and has been watching too many Dermot Brereton highlights.Reckons he is the next Dermie. He's dreamin'.A would be if he could be if i ever saw one........Bruce and Greene are nancy boys and have been wearing there old school ties as a badge.
Travis Johnstone......told you pricks 2 years ago that he was on the nose in a big way and could have been got with a bit of hard bargaining.Sigh!!!!!!!!!! what might have been.Tell you one thing about Johnstone....fabulous player, but struggles when matched against a taller player who is prepared to back his judgement and beat him to the ball. The perfect matchup ? Jarrad Waite.Jarrad for mine is not going well enough. How do you run him into form? easy, get him to tag the ball magnet Johnstone who wil take to the pill every time.
Dont rate the Dees myself, and in fact i can see them sliding.Dont have the strike power.I eagerly await round one.I dont care who lines up.I reckon we can take em.And comfortably at that.
Dont worry about the praccos'. Thats all they are.You just practice things.Jesus mate, even when we had gun sides we never won practice matches. That was not the point of them.It was to practice, experiment, and fine tune.

Side Note: McLaren, Betts and Teague are so overrated its not funny. Dennis shouldn't play them until they CARVE up the bullants. Not just do well... CARVE UP!

That's exactly what Betts did all last year when he was sent back. Such a talented player at 19 years of age.

Teague isn't really ever going to be that kind of player, that 2004 season was a bit of a one-off, he'll add to our defense if he does the team things, because they don't really seem to be doing that for each other at the moment.

As for McLaren, well we haven't had a problem with him yet and when we do I'm sure that will be somewhat the case.

Quote:
Carlton's David Teague says he is adopting a back-to-basics approach to the 2006 season.

Teague's stance comes in response to an indifferent 2005 following an outstanding first season at Carlton for the former Kangaroos defender when he won the club's best-and-fairest award.

He believes a keep-it-simple approach can help him bounce back strongly in 2006.

"I'm probably just getting back to the basics and doing the things well that I did that year (in 2004) … whether it's tackling, sheparding or spoiling - the simple things that don't require a real lot of skill, but just the effort," Teague told afl.com.au.

I personally Want us to Put Hartlett back at Full Back and Persist with him. Russell too he should be running of the half back flank with T-Bird.

Backline as i would have it:

Saddington:Hartlett:Teague
Thornton:Whitnall:Russell

Having Russell Rotate with the Likes of Carrots and Tex. Good Combo i Feel 2 Bigs, 3 Medium to Large, and 1 Running Defender. I,d Like Harts to play on the likes of Halls and Gehrigs and Have Russell/Thornton playing on Players like Robertson, Staker, Ablett and the likes.

I have a Feeling our best Combination is the Hartlett-Whitnall.

That's far too top heavy a defense dude, you can't expect that many talls in the one forward line at once, most of the time.

Maybe too tall backline but T-bird could play tall or small

Youngish centre line might get pummelled a few times but will gradually get there!

Carrots and Skinny can move around as they see fit/different roles

Fisher in the pocket where his contested marking is more damaging and youth on the bench with some experience in Scooter and Backup ruck in Dyl

I would like to see a few things.
1 Whitnall up forward
2Livo full back T Bird up the ground
3 Hartlett on Miller
4Russell to get a go
5 Walker on a wing
6O'Hailpin to play asto Blackwell
Carraazzo to get first crack at Robbo then Lappin if need be

Watched Dees Friday night and their are some guys who can play like champs then chumps(Johnstone numero uno)Davey would be matched with Russell although Carrazzo will probably get matched up with him.Worry more about Davey And Robbo than Neitz and Miller.Miller plays too far away from goals and Livo can take the aging Neitz.

Need to find a match up for both Bruce and Yze.Sporn or bannister could come in for these jobs but unlikely.

The key to winning this game is to put pressure in the middle.Dees dont like it .Their defence is suspect and we can kick enough goals to win.Whitnall must play up forward.

I suggest this as a one off option only, cause I don't like taking him away from the forward line. But given our historical match-up problems on Robertson, what do people think of the idea of putting Fish on him?

I would think he would be strong enough in the air to go with him, and quick enough on the lead. But does he read the play well enough as a defender? we haven't seen much of him down there.
