to be fair to Clarkson he stated it was Everitt's desire to leave - because being old he thought he had little future at Hawthorn that made them re-evaluate what they were doing - Clarkson says they began to change about halfway through the season.

Every kid we have who has consistently shown themselves to be above VFL level and/or played well in practice games/NAB and is eligible, is getting a game. That includes Murphy, Betts, Fisher, Murphy, Carrazo, Simmo, Walker, Bentick.

There are certain players who will always rise to the level they are playing at (Murph is a fairly obvious example). But if a player can't rise to the top in the reserves he is not ready for the main game. Simple as that.

We have a good young team playing good competitive football. I don't understand the need to rush with Russell and Blackwell or the whole "but 'insert name here' from the same draft is playing seniors for 'insert team here', and I want to see if we got dudded" mindset.

Kennedy will play as soon as he is fit, and Russell and Blackwell will get their chances later in the season (assuming they earn them of course).

Nightcrawler you have summed it up perfectly here. Some people just don't like the coach so he is never going to be good enough at what ever he does. I could not care less who the coach is but if those principles you have stated above are followed and I believe they have been in the past then no one has got anything to complain about.

Blackwell won't make it in the AFL, you have heard it here folks. 8)

P.S please ignore the deliberate tone of this post.

Huh?

I wouldn't worry Danny, our good friend pafloyul has gained a reputation for disagreeing with just about every recruiting decision we've made since Craig Devonport (which he was actually correct in saying). Kennedy aint good enough, should have gone Clark, shouldn't have taken Bower, go for a midfielder. Blackwell is just another in a long line of yarping that this site seems to be filled with which has well & truly drained my love of fellow man (apart from Jarusa and steve, they're good blokes).

With all this 'players are no good' 'admin are no good' we're all no good you'd have to question why we bother at all. I love this Club and I just can't stand this downtrodden garbage anymore.

Well why I bothered is that there is all this talk of playing the kids which is in its self is fair enough. However, I have yet to see any real evidence that he has the goods to take the next step.

Good luck to the kid, who knows, he might have superior brains and tenacity but he does not really standout enough yet to be considered to as an automatic addition to our revival.

I don’t understand all this optimism stating ‘We have got Blackwell to come in’ as if it is a given. It does not make sense.

Dear Mr Squiggly face (it's in most of your posts!),

Blueseum is an online museum of all things Carlton currently in development mode. The intention is to complete it and hand it over to the Club:

http://www.blueseum.org/tiki-index.php

It is an effort of volunteers - you  , me, Jarusa, anyone who loves Carlton -who has views on matches, or time to do some data entry which by definition we all have - thus the existence of this site :? I encourage you to have a look around and see where you can help.

In relation to Blackwell, I dont think anyone sees him as the messiah (unlike Murphy), but most fans get very excited about kids being given a chance. That's all we want. Carlton fans have been robbed of it for so long, and now we really need them to come through, but there's a love of youth and young skill and endeavour that appeals to most of us. If he doesn't make it, he doesn't make it, but many of us would like him to be given opportunity to at least show his wares. Unlike you I consider he played 4-5 very good VFL games last year and has a special knack of finding the ball, a skill we sorely lack, so I see hope.

But we just want them to be given a go.

And not unceremoniously written off before he gets that chance,

M

You haven't seen the goods cause you haven't seen him play seniors yet.

I think mthese sites may be great with things are bleak and we need to push past the darkness but now that things may be on the up I wonder about the validity of these sites myself Molsey

Habits are hard to break

and I do enjoy meeting up with Maxyblue Jar Jar or Mickey or PJ or (shudder) the sexy squad at the football or BV Synbad or whoever at training - it gave me back my sense of club.

hang in there....

ps One day I'll get around to that 72 thingy  but me and stats and ordered thoughts and deadlines......well thats like putting Synners and Campo and Lance at the same table for dinner.

Thanks Molsey, I'd love to see him or any kid given a go.

I have a bit of a unique outlook on things. I guess you could call me an Idealistic cynic, if that makes sense. I think big but I don't get my hopes up.

Yep, you love the kids getting a run, and if they don't perform like Judd or Smurf, you'll hang shit on them....
