This quote from this article got me really riled up:

http://www.heraldsun.news.com.au/footy/ ... 42,00.html

Quote:
"I would like to stay at Carlton and I'd like to stay in Victoria," Whitnall said. "But these days you can't do that and you have to go where the best thing is for you."

The best thing is for you hey Lance? Well, if that's what you think, the club that's given you the best for the last 5 years while you haven't earned the money bona fide really, then get the heck out of here.

Grow some balls Carlton. Think of the confidence this would breed into the younger players - "we pissed them off because we think you can do the job they've been doing".

Lance is only telling us about the culture at the club....

Best for Lance would be to repay back some of the money he has stolen from the club over the last few years and sign what the club has offered him or piss off...

If the club even ups their offers after talking tough.. theyre weak!!!!.. and the club will continue its merry way to nowhere in particular...!!!

Look i guess you have to look at it this way........

Lance has had an ok year, However that was his best as he was trying as hard as possible to get a good contract going for this point in time.......

Having that as food for thought makes you realise what we get when a RELEAVED lance signs for 2 or so years..... :(

Re comment re Lance signing.

Interesting, Mrs C is that I heard a week ago that Lance would sign this week (for around $400 000) and it would go the board on Tuesday for ratification as well as Campo's contract . (Not sure where this one is at atm)

I suspect though that the situation is somewhat more fuild than some are admitting.

Dear Jesus/Allah/Buddha/Krishna/Yahweh

I've never prayed to you before, and aren't exactly convinced that you ever existed... but thats beside the point.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE don't let BlueMark's post be true. PLEASE!!!! In fact, please let it be the exact opposite. Let Whitnall PAY US BACK $400 000 a year for 2 years... while he's playing for another club.

PLEASE!!!!

if thats true, BlueMark, then I'm appealing to Whitnall's sense of greed

"Come on Lance! you can get more than that somewhere else... and I invite you to take it somewhere else!"

If Lance gets used to playing in defense, he could become one of the elite defenders in the competition. He coudl set up our plays on the rebound. He just needs to stay fit...

Don't think he is athletic/tall enough to play on the big forwards of the competition. Opposition coaches will exploit his lack of athleticism

My understanding from a VERY GOOD source is that Lance will stay and he is 99% to be signed over the next cpl of days... that Campo will stay as noone wants him.. (so we have to keep him)... .. that the club will continue with Kouta as Captain.. so its more of the same...

Lappin looks gone!!!!!.. as the club will not bend for him....but will do its backflips elsewhere... making Lappin the biggest patsy since Lee Harvey Oswald...

PS... i hope the club continues to do backflips and backflips on that plan... and grows some balls instead of worrying about memebers and what the supporters will think if we make too many changes and post a huge loss at the one time...

I think we need to see change!!!!... culture change and we can handle a couple of years of pain.. if they continue to rebuild the list and the culture to players that want to play for the jumper FIRST.. and the money is a by product.... not the other way around...

I want to see the responsibility of leading spread around the kids and players who will be there in a couple of years...

I want to see a long term plan...

I dont care about losses .. even if we go to the AFL for a handout while we get all this right....!!!!

I think we are all big enough to give the club time to get itself sorted out properly instead of allowing it to be paralysed with fear.. too scared to go forward because of short term perceptions.

Its going to take time and we are not 2 players short of playing finals footy like a senior official told me!!!!!
Thats a club either trying to fool me.. or fooling itself...!!!

Synbad maybe the clubs financial position is forcing it to hang on to these players in a hope that we dont get smashed every week for the next two years. I think those late games at the G really hurt the club .

They may be doing a balancing act and are frightened that if these favourite sons were axed the backlash could be far worse
