Simple answer. We can't do everything in one trade period. We do need some senior players.

A dirty big contract lasting quite a few years.

Every club now knows that SOS will blink. Won't help us next year. If only we had Dodo.

Pick 5 for a junkie scum bag who can't be flower.

We really need a forward in this draft:

Everit, Jones, Thomas
Sumner, Casbolt, Tutt

might not cut it.

Wouldn't be Jones, it'd be Jaksch.

Buckley KP Draftee Walker
Casboult Jaksch Everitt.

Jaksch will be alot better but still needing another year. KP draftee assumes C.Curnow or Weiderson at pick 8, who have good size and will be just looking for the strength over time. Developing a few players with that forward line.

We got Pick 8 for a sooky Mummy's Boy.
If SOS is a crap trader, we would've ended up with Walker and Astbury and a host of 2nd and 3rd round picks.
By the way, wasn't it Dodo who blinked in the Ryder trade last year ?

Anyway, What's on offer with PSD pick 1 ?

Just seen the pic of Pea Heart Yarran in his Tigers jumper, Yellow stripe looks quite apt! Loyal Lachie in the geelong jumper that his mum probably knitted for him and Menzel in the Adelaide jumper. I've seen the Photoshop job somebody at Carlton has done with the respective heads on blue backgrounds, where are the photos of our new kids in Navy Blue!! Where is Plowman in the CFC Guernesy! Come on Blues, almost every other club has paraded their new recruits out to the members, Collingwood did it a full 24 hours before they had even traded the bloke in. St Kilda has their bloke in , photo then nearly back out again. Pinching a bio off the GWS or Adelaide page and pasting a CFC logo on it isn't cutting it, show us the new players in Navy Blue FFS!!!

The only one that's really going to hurt me is watching Tommy Bell running around for another club. Loved that kid, but I'm totally fine with why he left.

Phillips you'd be happy with a late pick or rookie. Kerridge is a 2nd or 3rd rounder and so is Lamb.
I trust those in charge (now). All 4 can kick and Phillips is raw.
Menzel has on and off field issues.
Yarran gave up
Henderson stopped caring.
Bell, we did the right thing.
The proof of the last 2 weeks will be in the draft.
Weitering is a no brainer.
We must get the next 3 right.
SOSOS will bust his guts. He'll be special its in the genes.

If every player at the club understands their responsibility and we build a culture from the ground up, we'll look back at this period and say it was when we stopped the ROT.

That's a really good post.

Plus 2. Summed it up perfectly. Consistency of intensity in the AFL is everything and we just weren't getting anywhere near enough of it from Henderson, Yaz or Menzel. Bell was fine but Kerridge is better.

Plowman will be terrific. He will give 110% every game. Sumner has plenty of talent. Just needs a good run with injury. Terrific attitude. Lamb is at his 3rd club so needs to produce. He can play. Phillips will be a real wild card. Give him a few years and look out

Regards Cazzesman

Plus 3!

Well summed up.

To be honest, the Menzel on is the only one i was concerned about. But having a think about it, all of Menzel / Yazz and Hendo showed me this year they didn't want to be here...... so good luck, but good riddance.

Fair point...although something tells me that Bolton will get the best out of him...just a crazy hunch

I agree.
If I were Bolton, I'd pull him aside and tell him 17 coaches thought he had potential but was too pissweak to realize it and if he wants to be remembered for 300 average games and ten good ones he is on the right track.

Assessing the state of our list after the trade period, I wanted to test the theory that we have the worst list in the competition and the worst in recent times. Obviously, the club has endured some dark days but I wanted to point out the following. In terms of top end talent, based on where players were (or will be in the case of new draftees) originally picked in the draft, the list looks promising. There is lots of work to do but here is an interesting breakdown:

No 1 picks (4) -- Murphy, Gibbs, Kreuzer and Weitering
N0 2 picks (2) -- Walker and Thomas
No 3-10 picks (3) -- Plowman, Sumner and pick 8
Top 11-15 picks (5) -- Everitt, Jaksch, Cripps, Docherty, and Pick 11
Top 16-30 picks (5) -- Kerridge, Lamb, Boekhorst, Dillon Vojo-Rainbow and Pick 19

It's not too bad in terms of breakdown -- it would be interesting to know how this stacks up against other clubs. After the draft, 19 of our listed players will be top 30 picks and 14 of them first round picks (and 9 of them top 10 picks). With the exception of maybe Walker and Thomas, all should have plenty of football left in them. When viewed through that lens, dare I say there is cause for hope :)

This club can't be fixed in one trade season.

Contract expiry 2016:
Kade Simpson
Dylan Buckley
Blaine Boekhorst
Dillon Viojo-Rainbow
Sam Rowe
Jason Tutt
Mark Whiley
Clem Smith
Jayden Foster
Matthew Dick
Nicholas Graham
Andrejs Everitt
Cameron Wood (R)
Levi Casboult
Zach Tuohy

Majority of next year's cull will come from these guys.

The least promising/performing six or seven of this group will surely go this time next year. But unless we have a few other contracted high draft players who want out, we'll have nowhere near the currency for upgrading picks that we have had this year.

My guess Buckley the first of this group to get a contract extension.

Only disappointment was the Yarren trade, and only disappointed as it was Richmond

That said a pick is better than having someone at yr club whos heart is no longer in it

Apart from that a great job and I am definitely renewing my membership next year

Believe we are finally on the right track

The Photoshop guys are run off their feet this time of year. Sometimes corners need to be cut.

Yarran and Henderson weren't just lazy, they'd completely checked out of the club.

Which is why it was so easy for the Richmond IT Department, as they didn't have to photoshop in the yellow sash running through Yarran's front and back.

Well said Choo and Cazz excited about what we have done

2014 yazz Menzel and Hendo were 3 of my favourites but to a more or lesser extent all were a complete disgrace in terms of effort execution and body language in 2015 and were part of the reason why we won the spoon
Each obviously didn't want to buy in in respect to new Boulton era and whilst we will miss their skill and mercurial ability we don't need their deficiencies creating difficulties in the team

OMG, THAT IS THE PROBLEM. We will use picks for peanuts like Livingston and Sporn!!!!!!! - SOS might try and recruit the GWS property Steward to play in the forward pocket! Sweet Fancy Moses, give me strength![/quote]

Past regimes oversaw that shabby recruiting. We have been crying out for change for years (a certain sailor man that appears to have gone overboard comes to mind) than when we get what appears to be a complete cultural change, we moan and groan some more.

I don't go all that often these days. But I'm planning on becoming a member again for the first time in years. I've been impressed with a number of things the club has done over the last 12 months. Getting a decent CEO. Pursuing good recruiters at other clubs. Appointing a list manager. Going through an actual process for our next senior coach. And likewise with the assistant coaches. Trading into the draft. Picking up cheap talent from GWS.

First post guys so take it easy.

Happy with the trade period, sos left no stone unturned and u can't fault him for effort, just hope menzel doesn't come back to haunt us.
Big key now is nailing the draft picks. These 4 need to b 200 game players as next year we wont have the player with currency to trade into the first round. Looks like weidman and curnow will both be gone by pick 8 so we need to just pick best available. No point just drafting a forward just because we need one if he's not worth being that pick and there's better talent available. Just my thoughts
