I don’t get the narrative that the players don’t care, if they didn’t care they wouldn’t be able to generate so many shots on goal and put themselves in winning positions. The problem is the players are mentally shot, look at the vfl match last night, we absolutely dominated the game from start to finish but even then kept missing the goals over and over again.

The problem is skill execution under pressure and belief in yourself. They believe they will lose every game, and miss every goal, and fluff every kick and handball, so they do.

How connected is Voss to this playing group?

when voss was appointed we were all expecting a golden run that could, if health willing, end with a flag. 2023 was the high tide mark. and then complete capitulation, stubbornness to change the gameplan, to bring in players that could help change the gameplan, baffling team choices (tdk in an elim final, benching kennedy etc) and now every other club bar richmond has overtaken us in just 3 short years.

but thursday night was his coup de grace on this club. allowing elijah to walk out onto the G against collingwood.

why he hasn't grown some balls and stood down after that, tells you all you need to know about him. how anyone could defend him and his coaching ability right now, is blowing my mind. Unless they are plants from club

So there is no responsibility from Elijah or possibly Ollie, who should know his brother better than anyone at the club.
If they knew he wasn't right then he should've pulled out before the game and let Flynn play instead and we would've most likely won.

A lot of hypotheticals there, would've could've etc.
Coaches make mistakes, just like the players.
If Harry had converted anyone of his 4 behinds we win.
If Walsh didn't run into the F50 or McLovin moved out of it the 6 6 6 rule would not have been invoked and that goal was not given to them losing our momentum, we win.
The list goes on..............and we can do this for pretty much every game.
The problem is there are issues in coaching, recruitment, skills, depth, etc etc.
Fixing one will not necessarily fix the other and that is a fact we have seen over and over and over again.

And BTW, how do you know that Voss and co didn't get the very best out of our list in 2023.
We all have a crack at SOSs recruiting but that seems to never be taken into account when analysing our club, they're all guns apparently.
Our list is weak and until that changes we will only play to the strengths of the individual no matter the coach.
A new coach might get you a little bump for awhile but until our list is fixed it won't matter and we will be back here again.

But then again, I'm just a plant after all. :screwy:

Could the please explain from the AFL regarding Elijah allow the club to sack him for breaching his contract in any way via gross negligence and failing his duty of care to the players?

We don’t need more reasons to sack him. There’s enough already. But I hear you.

It could benefit the club cynically by refusing to pay him out for such a breach?

crazy, on the footy show. Isaac Smith covering for MMM, was trying to get word, trying to have a phone call with CFC to look at elijah asap.

a commentator. meanwhile, we have how many guys in our box, and they couldn't pick up on it? I saw it on tv and was uneasy.

how does not a single person at our club not do something about it until some time into the 4th qtr.

while we are so beyond cooked off the field. it gives the guys on it, no chance.

Have a good look at yourselves.
Kick the club and coach when they are down.
Looking for scapegoats, or looking for proof of your hypothesis re Voss' coaching.

The spotlight was on Elijah because he hadn't had a possession at half time.
Same focus would happen to anyone who hadn't had a possession.

At half time, the commentary focussed on upside for Carlton, and that could come from Elijah.
No one was smart enough or intuitive enough to pick a mental episode at half time.

Elijah's history of mental health, however, opens the door to make the assumption he's having an off day because he......(populate with umteen guesses)
....makes everyone an armchair mental health expert. No one knew what was going on.

Ask his manager.

We all know he has his bout with mental demons, but no one knew he was having an episode. They suspected it later putting two and two together...ie drugs or mental episode.

Let the right people sort this out rather than creating a witch hunt. Its horrible to read horrible people make horrible comments about a horrible situation, albeit rare on field situation.

Bitch about Voss all you like, but the Elijah situation should be parked for now....imo.

Completely agree.

I’m Voss’ biggest critic…but enough.

Can't agree. This isn't about bagging anyone but more it highlights the unprofessionalism in our club. You might not like it, but it's raised its head again and it cannot be ignored.

If anyone has coached any sport at any level, they would identify an issue with one of their players pretty quickly. Line coach, head coach or any type of coach!!
This isn't about just possessions, although a player of Elijah's caliber, would raise alarms early in a match, but it's more about the role and structure he should be following and actioning. IMO, there is no way he could be following or actioning his role per instructions and therefore the coaches should have identified this sometime in the 1 quarter.

If anyone believes this isn't aligned to our coaches on game day, they seriously mistaken.

yeah exactly. nothing more than this - highlighting how bad and how disconnected we are as a club. if there was any before, there can be no doubt now, we are the league's worst run club.

Quote:

i wasn't drinking watching the game, and there were all kinds of signs elijah was ill, outside of his stat sheet. signs so big, it's staggering and embarrassing that not one person in our coaching, spotted it.

Elijah was jumping around the place manically, hands bent back up his arms at times, trotting like a horse and bounding out of control - often nowhere near the play; clapping his hands wildy, waving them above his head, pointing them all over the place. it was uneasy viewing.

with reports of him off of the televised camera giving players, the crowd the finger, on his way to the carlton huddle he stopped by the collingwood huddle and looked completely disorientated ... telling pies players that he wasn't well, and was pissed?

isaac smith saw what i and many others did and was trying to get word to carlton to let them know elijah wasn't well and admitted to being quite stressed he had no way on contacting them while watching it all unfold.

honestly at this point. if the club folded, it would be nothing but a sigh of relief.

anyway .... getting away from the mess that is our club.

watched the Dees yday. a shit list, a rebuilding list, a list nobody gave a chance. but a new coach breathing life into the club. mitchell did the exact same with the hawks.

when you get the coaching appointment right, this is what it looks like. when you get it wrong, we are what it looks like.

That's strange that you didn't mention it in the match thread.

Rubbish
I’ve been saying for 20 years that this club is rotten from the inside
People like me who have supported the club all my life have become further disappointed by this club falseness deceiving behaviour which translates down to eventually how we play footy

Despite what happened Thursday night fully exposing the club for what it actually is people like you continue to defend it
Read the profiles of the board members
It’s on the website
It doesn’t match up in regards to the events of Thursday night
People still defend the club because their too compromised don’t want to offend mates or are just plain stupid
My only hope is a group of people with clout and the brains and right intentions challenge these deceitful bunch of idiots
