If we get beaten by the Gold Coast next week the coach can go roll himself out the door. That would be an indication we are going nowhere.

The side we have should win that next week and should've been good enough to win today at home.

yup

So then ... who do you appoint to take over? Do we have a caretaker for the rest of the season? Do we write off 2019? (And keep in mind our draft pick situation).

Think it through.

Priority pick at the start of the first round.

Now someone's thinkin' ...

While there's something admirable about how the coach won't complain about the umps, I do wonder whether we might get some more advantage with the occasional comment. Certainly other clubs get an advantage by doing so.

Why?

Brisbane are a strong emerging side just beat the premiers, we could lose an intra club.

Round 4 last year Richmond 16.14.110 dftd Brisbane 2.5.17

It can change relatively quickly...

Hard to see any method other than bomb it in to Harry

Maybe a lot of that is due to Sydneys defensive pressure.

Boys need to keep building strength/fitness and link up better

Hmmmmm......so it’s the coaches fault that his full forward can’t lead properly and players can’t hit the side of a barn with their kicks and handballs or even take simple marks?? Take it elsewhere SB.

That's his job to create a properly coordinated team who can do the basics. You don't even know that....lol!!!! 4 years in and we still on no noticeable, effient game plan. We are so poorly drilled.

He's a shit coach, admit it!

As always Jim you continuously prove you have no idea of coaching at this level. When do the players take responsibility for not being able to execute the most basic skills that they were drafted for??

Careful Sid... bagging players is a no-no in here

Seriously though... I'm not in the sakc anyone camp yet but if we start another season 0-4 then I want the coaching group, players, recruiters, orange boy, all to start sleeping with the lights on... the honeymoon is over

I thought we'd have another poor year then make the finals in 2020. Wanted 6 wins this year. I'm really more interested to see how we go against GC, North, St K, maybe Freo. If we get towelled up by them it's panic stations.

That said, we kicked 1 goal in about a half a game of footy at one stage today didn't we...that was bloody hard to take :banghead:

We're definitely improved from last year (but then again we couldn't be any worse).

Frustrations are starting to boil over now.

Don't forget Brisbane lost their first 9 games last year and they're now 2nd.

Always thought we'd start off poor due to the preseason injuries, lets see how we go for the rest of the year before knifing the coach.

The only comparison we should be making with us and the Lions is comparing the current blues with the Lions of 93 ,94 and 95

Don’t kno, was too busy moving seats away fro the old prune behind us who appeared there at half time and proceeded to give a running commentary.

“Go Lukey. Go Jonesy. Go Bud. Go Ollie.”
I don’t think she took breath.

Bolton post-match, regarding 'honourable losses': 'Absolutely no word spoken in that space in our footy club'.

Ed Curnow post-match: 'We're sick of these close, honourable losses'.

i honestly don't see the much talked about improvements from last season happening here. I think our players are fitter -- but they still look lost & lacking confidence within the gameplan on the field?

three things:

i see the same baseline in fundamental footy skills not being met, just as it was last season and the one before. especially when we make our little runs and the ball goes hot. we lose our heads.

A forward structure -- despite at times having 3 really handy targets up front -- that is woefully slow, predictable and ineffective. has no one taught them how to lead onto the ball? or can they just not read the play and be ahead of it?

we're a team that is defensive minded and always looks to defend space and their man, even when we have the ball in defence we don't bend that structure out of shape -- and it comes at the cost of run & spread. so, even though we are defensive, we still allow the most uncontested marks, possessions and metres gained in the comp?

something there in among all that isn't right, and i just find it difficult to blame the players.

it's totally plausible that coaching is responsible, yeah?

I actually think the bigger failing of our forward structure at the moment is we are getting no value out of our smalls, at all

Despite a brief period of Pratts tenor where he bent the rules to get Judd in , this football club has been a basket case.
But here is the drum that is what members and supporters wanted. Since 2002 we decided we were going to abide by the rules. Pratt changed that for while but we slipped back when he departed.

Supporters you wanted this you supported this so now you wear the consequence.

A side with no will or no way of knowing how to win.
A side that can't attract quality
A side that the best they can come up with for a coach is the cliches kid.

The moment you voted to not fight and give in to the most corrupt manipulating sporting organisations in the world you destined this club to swirl around the bottom half of the table for many more years to come

Yes it all looks lacking at the moment, but as seen with Buckley at Collingwood and Hardwick at Richmond I think the board should give the coaches and players time for it all to develop.

I'd wait until the end of 2020 before fully re-assessing.

to add to that...round 13 last year lions 1 and 12... on the back of

2015 4 wins
2016 3 wins
2017 5 wins
2018 5 wins

have now won 7 of their last 12 and in the 5 they lost went down a couple of times by under a kick.

we've got the bones of a really good side. no need to panic
