Having Sydney, Geelong and Hawthorn in the finals for almost 15 straight years whilst also having Carlton being a non-competitive cellar dweller does effect the AFL bottom line. It hurts the TV broadcasters, which hurts revenue, which hurts the AFL.

The current rules favour the rich staying rich and the poor being feeder teams.

Witness Melbourne being out of the finals for 12 years.

Carlton no doubt has completely stuffed up the AFL's plans in regards to helping Gold Coast. No doubt they were itching to give GC as much help as possible and passing everyone else over. Since Carlton finished two games back of GC the AFL can't be seen to reward the 2nd worst club but not helping the worst. Not a bad outcome for us since the AFL really REALLY wants to help GC.

I think a mid 1st round Priority Pick is reasonable. We and GC deserve it. Other clubs can get stuffed, since they have Academy's and Free-Agency to rort the system.

Probably trying to cover up the fact that no rule states that a club has to formally ask.

What's the bet we get pick 2 as a PP and are told we have to trade it for experienced talent

Shiel and Setterfield come on down. we keep our picks next year.

we keep 1 and get Walsh.

Anything that involves us getting Sheil, Setterfield and Walsh without using any future draft picks or trades is a great result.

No chance.

Absolute best case would be pick 3. Gold Coast were just as crap as us and are the AFL's darling.

I think we are more likely to see PPs after pick 10.

Reading between the lines the AFL seem pretty bloody keen to help us. All it takes is one early pick and an agreement.

It would be to the GCS.

I really doubt that. You can throw a blanket over the top half dozen this year. Little to no difference

If Carlton wasn't involved no one would say a thing.
Why are they even being asked about it?
I wish Bolton would come out and comment on how unfair it is that Geelong is the only Victorian club to have a home ground advantage.

So I suppose they'll be sending Ablett back to GC and taking Motlop back on board then?

This.

They may as well ask a generic "Do you think that the AFL should do something that may assist the performance of a team other than yours". Guaranteed every single coach and president, (including ours), would answer no.

Stupid question.

So Chris is against priority picks, and he's against bottom teams having access to State league players.
How hospitable of him. Obviously a big fan of equalisation.
