Yaaay!!

The news I've been wanting to hear :D

Can't believe how some posters here swallow the line from the Match Committee and the Club regarding such issues as Santy's promotion. Yeh, sure they were going to give him the rest of the year in the seconds :P

And I'm not blaming the Blues for putting out this disinformation. It's the way the game is and should be played. Keep the opposition off balance, even if that means the members are misled as well. A perfect way to unleash the big mad Irishman. Adds a new dimension to flying under the radar.

Maybe my joy is premature - there is no certainty he will play on Saturday. But I'd love to have a bet on it happening.

The thing is that few debutants have immediate impact. Few make an impact in their first year out of TAC as their bodies aren't mature enough. Blokes like Simmo find this a problem for a few years. That is the one thing we don't have to worry about with Santy. There is only a little room for improvement in his body.

There is much more room for improvement in his skills, of course. But a lot of debutants have more potential than skills that are ready for display at AFL level. The leap from TAC and VFL is so great that most of them can't handle the tempo. Just look at Walker. He had a great game against WC last year, but in many games since he has been plagued by poor disposals and decision-making. And he is justifiably seen as a star in the making.

So the insistence of many that Santy be held back as he is still learning the game is a bit inconsistent with the preparedness of most to see young recruits get a game before they are nearing maturity.

According to the email he'd only be able to play about 3 games until Fisher returns at the end of the month???

Seems strange to have 2 conflicting stories in the email- one announcing Setanta's elevation for Fisher, another telling us Fisher isn't far away from returning.

Well unless he was secretly promoted about 5 weeks ago, I'd suggest it is Hartlett, or someone else (?) that has been put on the LTI.

The Thursday Update form the club states: "Setanta is on the senior list until Brad Fisher returns from injury, which is expected to be in late May."

Does seem strange to me but that's what the club is saying.

Guys i was at the Club tonight, and i spoken to alot of people, But i can honestly tell ya that the Irish man's promotion is being played very very low profile by Denis...

However one thing is Certain...Carrazo wont play... Mcgrath will automatically replace him.

chambers wont play....Denis is tossing up between Prenda and Santana... there was a feeling at the club that prenda might get the nod and santata to fight it for another day, but Denis is very tight lipped up until an hour ago...

Campo will actually Play, he will be tested tomorrow morning, he is 70-30 as of tonight... if he doesnt come up, then all 3 emergenices will play...

according one of our best sources over at tbv, he's been named as an emergency

the poster was "kennyhunter" who's often had accurate heads up on carlton news well in advance - I'd rate it!

From the Carlton newsletter..

"Exciting news during the week was the elevation of Setanta O'hAilpin from the Rookie List to the Senior List. This is recognition of his performances in the VFL in recent weeks and no doubt with continued good form our Irish recruit is a real chance to make his AFL debut soon."

go you good green thing!

Rich

Yeah sorry I missed that.

So how can we have elevated Setanta at all then? Like I said, wouldn't it have to have been done on the quiet a few weeks back???

Thank goodness for internet forums because there's no mention of it on the Footy Show. Now, how to get out of the family reunion at Albert Park Lake ...

Bitter sweet.

Am absolutely stoked that Setanta has been promoted. I think back to the first day he rocked up to training and think what sort of player he is today, and he has come such a long way.
I wish the big bloke all the luck in the world.

However, I'm shattered that I won't be able to attend and watch Setanta fookin' hit someone. I have my own football game to participate in as this week I've been promoted to the Mitcham reserves. Pretty excited, but damn my ability to impress the senior coaches at Mitcham.

Oh well, it's not about me, it's all about Setanta.

I hope he owns Nathan Brown on Saturday.

Congrats PJ. Hope you kill em in your game with Mitcham and then mellow out to watch a replay of the Blues flogging the Tiggers (misspelling intended) with Setanta running amok.
