A little weird but Gibbs has missed footy without injury and is resuming, so let's just see how next week plays out. Let's also keep in mind he played almost every match for us last season and has basically been rehabilitating his ankle on the job.

3 to be dropped from the squad before the game, and it looks like we're using the extended bench to find our small forward group between Boekhorst, Buckley, Smith and Tutt, as well as our midfield runners in Armfield, Dick and Graham. Giving Byrne another run around is nice to see as he showed good work rate against WCE.

If we're picking on form, Tutt gets the boot, with Watto not far behind. I think it'll be Tutt, Dick and Byrne given the former was shit and the latter two aren't critical to our thinking for round 1.

That gives us:

FB: Jaksch Jamison Tuohy
HB: Yarran Rowe Docherty
CC: Bell Gibbs Simpson
HF: Boekhorst Henderson Buckley
FF: Menzel Jones Casboult

RR: Warnock Cripps Judd

Int: Everitt, Carrazzo, Armfield, Smith, White, Watson, Graham, Curnow

I think Curnow and White will be the subs based on the way we seem to be managing senior players.

I think MM will give the new recruits every chance to prove themselves. Given Tutt was terrible in the WCE game and quite good in the intra club game. and the fact we enticed him over to the Blues I'd back Tutt playing. Watson wasnt given any opportunity to shine last week....in fact no KPF were with no midfield.

I'd say its a couple of talls to miss...White because hes worked hard and MM knows what he brings to the table including his current form; Watson and can see Curnow given a real rest because MM knows what he brings to the table too. I thought Graham was terrible last week but has had a great preseason with his 'voice' and Buckley had a bad game too....but Im thinking its Smith vs Buckley for the small forward role with Tutt falling behind.

Did Tutt have a decent outing in the intraclub? That wasn't my recollection, in fact I think he played on the wing and didn't kick a goal.

I thought Tutt was great in the intra club. Clever, quick and has clean disposal...the willingness to tackle will please people too.

Dick was the one I thought looked below average in preseason training but he looked a bit better against the Eagles. The follow up match this Sunday will be big in moulding the year for many players. Byrne is the other that I feel the coaches are keen to get senior footy into.

How was his disposal on the run? He seems a clean kick of the footy from the mark, but his ball drop appeared inconsistent during his time at the dogs, and he had two absolute scrubber I50s against WCE.
