I'm on the bandwagon with Ryan:

Kouta for captain in 2006
Lance for captain in 2007 and Waite vice-captain

Keep Stevo though.

HI Guys,

I just wanna add my two cents worth.

I have to agree with ryan on this one. Lance has been in good form this year despite the constant talk of him leaving the club he has grown up in. I feel so sorry for Lance. I've watched him since he made his debut with the Mighty Blues.

Lance has shown great leadership qualities this year. If given the chance, I believe he will make a very good captain for this great club. With Waite as his deputy (and eventually succeeding him), I believe we will have a very potent leadership duo.

Nope, sorry gang! I am deadly serious.

Lance for Captain, Waite for V.C.

Perhaps i'm not totally serious about the whole Nick Stevens trade thing, but if the right deal came up.............for Example........

Collingwood get a PP and offer us pick 6 and pick 25...........i would certainly consider it!

I'm sick of Stevens automatically being spoken as our next captain when in all honesty, he has been the most dissapointing player this year for what we have invested in him!

Improvments!

Kouta:- HUGE improvment on last year AND the year before that and will be fighting it out with Waite for a 2nd B&F! Easily be our Top Brownlow poller!

Waite:- The biggest improvment of them all!

Carrazzo:- One of the more exciting things to happen to Carlton all year!

Simpson:- Scared everybody at the start (including me) but in the last 6 games has averaged approx 18possesions! - the majority of this 'Gathered'......NOT 'Recieved!'

Whitnall:- Played an enormous part in our Wizzard Cup win and has had his best season since 2001! Has been asked the world off being sent up forward, down back and even sometimes in the ruck.......and i believe he has done the club proud.

Dissapointments:-

Teauge:- Still shows courage but nowhere near the player he was last year.

Fevola:- Should have surpassed last seasons tally weeks ago - hard to believe he hasn't even notched up 50goals........but injury could be an excuse!

Prenda:- Well, i don't need to say anything to this except "GET THE HELL OUT OF MY CLUB!"

Campo:- Has shown no passion for the club or the game and is quite frankly insulting all Carlton fans in having the Vice Captains role!

Stevens:- I remember watching the Hawthorn game at the start of the year when he had 6 clangers and handed Hawthorn goals on more than one occasions. Had the worst game ever yet 'Recieved' around 30 possesions.............so i was furious when he got votes in the paper the next day!
Has done nothing to prove himself worthy of the title of Captain for this proud club with over 100 years of history.
Has done nothing to warrant a $500k a year pay packet!

He may have silky smooth skills and some leadership qualities - but he has not yet earnt the right to lead this club!

In regards to Whitnall as Captain................well, it wasn't until the Richmond match a few weeks back where i was sitting front row and pretty much heard eveything Lance said to the players! Directing the back-line, encouraging the kids, giving them confidence when they were down......................Sure Kouta had a great game, and i love him, but Lance played a big part in the leadership of that side!

Yet stevens, gathering 25+ possesions and getting a couple of goals, will get all the attention.

Far too often attention is given to those who rack up possesions when in actual fact, the game is so much more than that. Lance has the ability to lead these kids and can play a mojor part in the rebuilding of our football team.

Whats more, with Waite as Vice Captain under Lance, well - think of the benifits.

Stevens to me is a good 'Recieving' midfielder who is great in a great team, but inconsistant in a struggling one.

Personally, i;d like to see Kouta Captain for another year. He, more so than any other on our list, has earnt the right to be seen as a Captain for this great club.

Waite would be a great option, but is still developing confidence and skill - given the captaincy would put far to much preasure on him. Another 4 years under a good captain would be best! Whitnall has the brains and the ability to act almost as an on-field coach to this young team.

Lets revisit this post after the season has ended shall we???

We will get a better understanding of what your understanding is Ryan ...

I am a massive Kouta fan (hence my username) but I think he has been a disappointment as Captain this year..minimal impact on games and minimal presence on the field....Never seen him get run off as much as this year and some of his attempted tackles have been embarrassing. The only thing that will save him is they won't take it off him for the last season of his career.

Kouta accepted the captaincy along with pay cuts because it was Koutas old mans dying wish that he captain this side one day.

I think the captaincy means a lot to him and im sure he is hurting more than us as he would love to be a premiership captain thats what his dad wanted to see.

In everyones best interests to wait until then. See where we finish and who we are likely to get in the draft and PSD if we finish last. What other offers are going to come our way. Other clubs will make there delistings and retirements and have room in the cap to make an offer.

The bit of goodwill that we get out of signing Lance now would not outweigh the benefits in waiting on all 3 blokes and making the correct decisions.

Well be the first club in the history of the league to trade our B&F I reckon.
If he does get traded (i think he will but I want him to stay) he could be worth a top 10 pick by the end of the year. Anyone recokn the doggies would give awy there first pick for him.

That would make us the first club to give a B&F to a player who contributed little for half the games.

But then again, Corey McKernan tells us we have priors in this matter. :?

Lance is our best player and we want to offload him ? Weird !
And to those who want to trade him for Goddard who is half the player Lance is and will only ever be half the player Lance is.Goddard is a bigger version of Justin Peckett and that's what he will remain.A very good halfback flanker..........period.
