Beating those pricks feels pretty good, no matter what the circumstance.

EXACTLY! Support the players we have, not the players we could potentially have in the future, at the expense of the 22 on the field.

WHAT IS SO @#$%&! HARD TO UNDERSTAND ABOUT THAT?

Always thought JohnM was a smart cookie, and his first post sums it up brilliantly.

What have we got to gain from winning our last few gain? Appart from missing the spoon and saving some pride, absolutely nothing.

What can we gain from loosing the rest of the year. An extra pick in the top 4. A shot at the most talented kid in this years draft.

As I see it, those who advocate winning during the junk stages of a lost season take pride over the a genuine chance at rebuilding. This is such a short sighted view.

If we miss out on the PP, I will drop my membership. The club is just not doing enough to re-build this team if it wins another game this season.

Quite frankly, I'm shattered at todays loss.

(awaiting the sniping to start...)

While I respect your opinion, I just cannot believe this.

If you want a spoon go into the kitchen and get one.

No spoon for the blues, one every hundred years is enough.

I think we will get the priority though, and I reckon the pies won't.

I reckon that's a bit disappointing too chucky. :|

Before people get carried away making big calls on the future of the club or their membership status and so on, let's not forget the position Collingwood are in. We were never going to lose this match. They could not afford to let the alternative come to fruition. Just as I predict we will now lose to Essendon* and the Kangaroos, for, we cannot afford to win.

Let's start throwing the baby out with the bathwater just yet.

Enjoyed the win myself and was happy to see our younger players do so well..Adam Bentick was terrific and while Collingwood were missing some quality players I think the form of our young players was encouraging and would give everyone connected with the club a lift.
John is entitled to his opinion and I enjoy his work but disagree with his not so subtle view on the meaning of the win or negative effects on our draft prospects....I'll take the win and savour the efforts of the youngsters and look forward to the Essendon* game...

But we wont be as happy with pick 5 selection when we could have had pick 1 and 3....

and next year when were still travelling the same way with a percentage of 70 we will moan some more.... and it will be the same the year after.. and the year after that...and so on...until one day you die...

Thats what used to happen to clubs like Fitzroy and Geelong and Swans supporters.

Never in the hunt just another team making up the numbers.

I dont have a problem with you saying that Chucky.

What the club did last night is bordering on gross negligence.
The problem is the club has no clue what it needs to be done to raise itself off the floor.
The reason is the club cant accept it is on the floor.

Were trying to pretend we dont have the worst list in the AFL.. by telling everyone we have the 3rd worst list.

The team with the worst list gets the rewards and we are too busy telling everyone its not us.
But everyone knows better...

I can't understand the notion of "let's just lose the last 2 games, no matter what it takes".

I still don't understand how that can be achieved.

Do we tell Bentick, Simpson and Fisher to just go easy on the good play son, don't want to overdo it?

Do we drop Kouta, Fevola, Campo, Whitnall (all for minor surgery of course)?

Drop the kids (but wait, some more of those pesky kids might come through and have an impact, little pricks)?

Make a big pact between the players to kick to the opposition players when they manage to get the ball?

Yeah, you could do all of those things, or a combination I suppose.

But what do you think Jabba and his mates would do? If they got even a whiff of dodgy stuff coming out of the last few games don't think for a minute there wouldn't be a full inquisition (not inquiry) and we will get shafted all over again - have the PP taken off us and our draft position "adjusted". And don't thinik they wouldn't do it either.

We are painted into a corner I am afraid. All Pagan could possibly do is make a few questionable coaching decisions on the day, but then it's still up to the players, and when you are fighting to maintain your own spot in the 22 or on the list you are hardly going to go easy out there.

While I am disappointed that we will miss out on the PP (and we will after we beat Essendon* next week) but in the end we may get better value out of instilling a winning combination in our midfield etc for next year.

As JohnM said last year we got a lot of cheap wins that didn't help us go forward that well; HOWEVER those wins were largely driven by the recycled contingent. These wins have been driven by our kids - you know Simpson (pick 45) Bentick (rookie, not even good enough for draft), Fisher (pick 60 something), Betts (PSD also overlooked), who have reinvigorated our senior players like Kouta.

While he will come good, I feel the only one of our young guys in the senior team who is off the pace a little is Walker, and he is a priority pick.

Those players you mentioned will never win you a flag unless you can place a Judd a Ball or a Riewoldt in there with them...

Those kinds of players have never won a flag.

Walker is a second year player.. and two years younger than Carrzzo Fiser and Bentick or Waite..

and i bet Walker is a few months younger than Bentick too...and not much older than Betts.

Funny how Stan Alves & co on 3LO can see it. They know we'd be stupid to try to win more games & lose the PP.

I don't necessarily disagree with what you said Synbad - but how do you tell those guys to ease up a bit? These kids have made a real difference to the way we have been playing. How can you tell them to back off because we need to lose this game?

The philosophy is understandable, but I just can't see how you could get away with just blatantly mucking around with the lineup OR telling the kids to ease off and (a) get away with it with Jabba just looking for another excuse to shaft us and (b) completely screwing with the minds of these kids who are trying their arses off?

Would you want to throw your balls on the line for a coach who told you not to play to your ability?

Haha. Can we stop using Riewoldt and Ball and Judd for this argument... say Voss or something, for gods sake..
