There are alot of mixed signals coming from the club.
The board is divided on Fev.. anything good and Fev is gone as long as we can talk him into leaving.
Lance is a couple of days away from a new 2 year contract.
Campo will remain at the club... NO nibbles from other clubs.
Lappin is doubtful to be here... will be gone in my opinion.
Im not saying Grant is a Monty to be here next year he does not fit the youth profile.. but we have spoken to him...and he is holding out against North.. and alot of things the club has done recently are backflips.. so who knows?

Spoke to our V President in my drunken state last night and from what I can remember, the above is pretty much spot on.

Whitnall a certainty to stay as is Campo. Lappin- GAWN. Fevs- see above.

Tommi

I have a seven month old who is keeping me up (bear in mind the time zone difference with NY). Hey whatever you're on could you please send some to me in NY. Priceless post.

As for the Blues, it's funny that the one guy who actually deserves a pay rise based on his contribution over the past 4 years -- namely Matty Lappin -- is the one who has no chance of getting one. I similarly share everyone's frustration. We know we can't go backwards but based on what Josh and Synbad have said, it sure is going to stop us going forward anytime soon.

We have an opportunity to wipe the slate clean and instead it is going to be dirty and mired with the same fat cat mentality of the playing group. To think that Lance and Campo are going to be on Dal Santo and Kozi money is frightening.

Truly hope the Carlton board come Tuesday have long hard look at the situation and that we need fresh approach !!!!!!!!!!!!!
It is time for change and they will have consensus to make some hard decisions.
Send them copy of our poll, they need to be informed .

Enough bullshit, let’s take the bad medicine over next few years and develop some young talent that will play for the jumper.
Let the Fat Cats chase the dollars I say!!!!!!!!
Ciao

That's F*cking disgraceful! Imagine pissing off from the club a player like Matty Lappin, who in our darkest days was sometimes the only shining light, yet letting lazy non-leaders like Cancereale (Thanks, CC) to stay.

Make the lazy f*ckers sweat on whether we're going to show them the door.

WARNING: long rant
I rarely post but this issue has got me really annoyed. :x
The club has lost me. Why would the club reward Lance with a two year contract @ $350K+ per year after just one good season from his past four playing as loose man in defence? For the first time in many years (and after years of frustration for most supporters), Lance is worth a first round draft pick yet now the club is too gutless to get rid of him. During the last part of the season I was hoping some club might be lured into thinking he could play CHF/CHB for them but have the board been misled into thinking this as well. Could anyone realistically see Lance playing on Tredrea, Riewoldt, Brown, Hall or Pavlich? That sort of match-up would give me nightmares. I repeat, he is a third defender/forward not a KPP. Third defender/forward’s are NOT worth over $300K+ even if they do have a good footy brain.

I can understand why the club is considering trading Fevola as it would net some better draft picks. However, it seems incredibly stupid to sign Lance up and trade away Fev when Fev plays a much more vital role in the team. Lance’s role could be played by almost anyone whereas we don’t have an adequate replacement for Brendan. I would be extremely disappointed if we kept Lance and got rid of Fevola.

Lappin can look elsewhere if he really wants 3 years, but I can’t imagine many other clubs would be willing to give a guy who turns 30 next year a 3 year contract, especially after such a poor season.

I’m sick of Campo. Other clubs don’t want to trade for him because he’s an unaccountable, poor excuse for a senior player. Why should we keep him when other clubs don’t even think he’s worth anything? I would be interested in knowing what he club thinks he offers the team other than experience, as it would be better for the future to have someone like Russell playing Campo’s BP position.

If we had a poll with the question “Are you disenchanted with the clubs reversal on it’s hard-line stance?â€

All I can say is that I'm glad this thread wasn't about our embarrassing little incident on Friday night. It wasn't your fault Lu, and I'm getting help. Sorry!

Nailed in one!

If he's not worth anything to any other club, what makes our Football dept think he's worth ANYTHING at all to us?!

Seems like there's a lot of shared feeling here on TC re: the club needing to be bold, brave and to make hard decisions. Question- Has anyone made contact with the Club and passed on their views?

If what Synbad says is true, then our club truly is a joke.

Better not be. I can't take another season like this one.

Someone should inform the club of our view , make it known. We want action not conservative and defensive back tracking.
Otherwise why leave Princess Park ?
If we regress now, it will all be to no avail, lets be aggressive and continue the rebuilding of this great club with young talent that will bust their guts for the jumper.
Reward the players that deserve it and get rid of the Fat Cats.
Ciao

I think vote that the Tyrant writes the letter... recycling much of his material in this thread.

Do you think the club has not already received a heap of letters pleading to keep Lance? Why do you think they changed their mind?

Not to keep Lance. To keep Fev, and make the tough decisions on Whitnall, Campo and Lappin etc

If we trade Lappin, keep Lance, Campo, Kouta as Captain, even trade Fev I don't want to read or hear anything in the papers next year where Pagan says "give me draft picks/talent and I'll give you wins". I don't want to hear Collo go on about our C-Z grade list - I want to hear NOTHING!!!!

This is your opportunity Carlton. Now is the time to take radical action with the full support of the majority of your supporters. Most of us are still prepared to accept poor on field performance due to the flow on effects of bad recruiting in the late 90's, Black Friday etc. Most of us are prepared to take a little more pain if it means we can bring some decent youth into this club. But if you prove to be weak at this crucial time. Just shut up and cop it - NO MORE EXCUSES.

And in 3 to 4 years time when we are mediocre AT BEST and Carlton supporters are calling for blood - you will have no one to blame but yourselves.

There will be no more excuses.
