I think in order to understand this long - short, good - bad, successful - crap crap we need a multi-dimensional view of the statistics - and possibly some serious drugs.

Anyway, it would be interesting to see the split between long and short kicks further split down into turnovers and non-turnovers. I am guessing it is the ability to hit a target and retain position which has the greatest impact on being successful. More skillful sides would be confident they can hit targets so are willing to kick shorter. The other side of the picture, which our stats friends may struggle to collate, is that the short game requires disciplined and constant running to create those short options.

But then again it could all be crap :-D

Most people attribute the quote to Mark Twain, indeed I only learnt recently that it was Desraeli that said it first. ;)

I had to look up Disraeli and his quotes after all that and found a couple of bewdies:

"There are three kinds of lies.... lies: damned lies: and statistics."

"A sophistical rhetorician, inebriated with the exuberance of his own verbosity"

"Little things amuse little minds"

"I rather like bad wine....one gets so bored with good wine"

So Jarusa are you the mythbuster with the beret, bikey beard and shaved head or the talkative one with red hair?

Whichever is the nerdiest, I am that one!

That's a pretty close contest between those two.
