What a game

Funny comments by Mitchell at the jumper presentations. He was asked what young guys are up and coming from today's Bullant game to give is hope? Response was Bower + Russell and Carlos who played seniors?

Bower and Jackson played for the bullants and so too a few others who played for the seniors. I cant remember Setanta playing for the ants. digby walked past and said he wasnt playing for the bullies because it was too hot and too early.

Next week - drop Scotland - doesn't even look interested unless we are moving forward. He should be made to sit in a room watching Bower and Jackson footage and told if you want to play again you need to show endevour and heart like these blokes.

Scotland is listed in the best players on the CFC site

Whoever watched the game would know that those best players list was an absolute joke i was in the stand below the coaches box and the words coming out of the coaches box after some decisions well u had to be there

and by the way umpire no 36 should not get another game what an absolute clown

Thornton was on Tredrea and put up a pretty lackluster effort which was a bit depressing to see. Whitnall was just sort of floating around defence holding no one and occasionally getting in the way of a Port forward thrust.

Ok guys, generally thanks to all for the reports...but I'm confused?
Whitts was BOG but he was shit, Houla was good but hopeless, same with Stevens and we overused the ball and continuously bomb it long.

Obviously it all went pear shaped today, BUT at least no-one was injured...and a few got a run.

Anyone see anything interesting that was "being tried?" by the club.....

(I guess this is a real downer for the membership/family day stuff that was planned...but that's the way the cookie crumbles I guess...Oh well let's see what happens next week.)

Doesn't it concern anyone that even in the 2nds they relied on Carrots to kick 5 and get 40 possies.
Oh yeah of too much faith

The only real positive for me was that Kade played really well with lots of dash and excellent disposal (at least that's how I saw it) when he managed to get his hands on the ball. In a better side he'd be getting huge raps.

Got there just before half time - saw Port immediately kick 3 easy goals.

Some quick observations:

1. Port basically did as they pleased. There was always someone free and the kick into the forward line usually was under no pressure and directed to someone metres in the clear.

2. In what I saw Kade Simpson was a real positive. One day he, Blackwell and Murphy will form a potent on ball division.

3. The nature of the day meant that we were on the ground near the Carlton race when we came on the ground after half time. There was no talk, the boys looked stuffed, and their facial expressions said "do we have to go out there again?"

4. In the final quarter, Paul Bower really committed his body to a contest, the crowd went nuts. It was sad that the crowd went nuts over something we once took as a given

5. To finish things off - I was sitting somewhere near the coaches box. Sticks walked past as I was walking along with the kids and he said "Pretty ordinary wasn't it" - ruffled my sons hair and kept going. Didn't need to be Einstein to see how much it is hurting.

The speeches afterwards by the coaching staff were along the lines of - please forgive today, we feel like we've made a lot of progress over preseason. Today isn't what we are about. They (especially Denis) really seemed a bit shell shocked by the days happenings.

Loved the way Lance conceded the boundary to his opponent..
Loved the way he directed traffic.
Kouta inspirational today... he was in everything.. i particularly loved the way he wiped the grass off his hand on Burgoine as Burgoine ran past him... Just fantastic!!!.. Captain magnificent.

I also think it was a masterstroke of Denis after seeing how we lack skills and tactics to invest in fitness and endurance work on Monday for the whole session...sheer brilliance.

As for Walker... i think he did a pretty good job on Motlop today.... sensational use of a number 2 pick... (tagger again!)

I cant wait to see what new innovative tactics were going to come up with next week!!!... oh hold it a minute.. its in Darwin .. i cant get to Darwin... maybe thats our version of playing behind closed doors???

Practise game or not.. there was nothing you can take out of that game... the kids had a dip again... some of the older players showed why theyre overpaid bludgers. (Not Lance so much this time.. he just showed how the game has gone past him)

And blind freddy can see everything our coach and his merry band of men cant see...

Played before a very diappointing sized crowd..(Maybe everyone else is smarter than us who went?)

Anyway the feeling in the sparce crowd is they want heads on sticks...!!!!

Shithouse time to take away the priority pick!!!.. we would have been montys for pick 1 and 2..

And yes... yes i know.... some of you want us to win.... @ you!!!

Further to Synbads point about priority picks, the sheer helplessness one felt watching today, raised the horrible question in my mind of whether we will win a game this season.

I'm sorry but we were that far off the mark today.

You would've preferred he got 7 touches, and had no impact on the game? @#$%&! you're a hard guy to please. I'd hate to be your wife. :P

Seriously, take his 5 goals off the score, and the Bullants still would've won by 25-30 points anyway.

ps. Billc, 79Vintage gave a quick wrap up of the game in the TalkingBullants board. link

Beano... Setanta tried.. presented but in a side that was thumped just about all over the park he had his colours lowered.

He gave it his best shot but couldnt get into the game... !!.. dididnt do alot wrong.. didnt do alot right but he tried his guts out whilst he was on.. as all our kids do.

Will have better days

agree on setanta, what can the kid learn out of a game like that, he presents time and time again, ball goes right of him, left of him, over his head etc.

all game he is chasing shadows.
