I'm afraid to look at the TC forum page again, there might be 7 threads telling us the teams. :?

IN: JR, Santy and Fisher
OUT: Chambers, Sporn, Fevola

I'm guessing JR is getting this game as a spur, unless of course if he performs (can't do worse than Chambers). :)

Hawks plan for Fev's stand-in

Quote:
He's a quality player and he kicks a lot of goals for Carlton, so it certainly helps us that he's not there, I would think," Clarkson said at Waverley Park on Thursday.

"But having said that, they're a little bit more unpredictable in the way that they structure up and I'm not certain who is going to play forward for them - it might be Kouta (Anthony Koutoufides) or they might take (Lance) Whitnall forward.

"I've got really no idea until the first bounce, so that bit of the unpredictable side of things is (something) that you can't prepare as well if Fevola was there.

"So it's a bonus in one sense that he's missing, but also unpredictable in the other side of things - you don't really know what to expect."

Going by the role JR has playe din the VFL would it be ridiculous to suggest that he could get first crack at Williams with Carrots as a backup if things don't work out.

He'd only be an option if we're getting pumped and everyone else failed.

Good to see Clarko making excuses already just in case.

"Ah ... we think they'll put Lance forward, but if they don't .... no wait, that's all we've got. I admit it, we have no idea what they'll try cause I do all my coaching based on the HUN game preview and it hasn't been written yet"

Need Betts in the middle from the 1st bounce, give us a boost at the start this time

Not so sure. I think we need someone like Eddie as a crumber/FP. I don't think it would help us to have him in the midfield for the whole match.

I don't think that Eddie should play in the midfield for the whole match either. He should be used in bursts, when we need to pressure the Hawks mids. I do think that he should start in the midfield though, and stay there for the first 10 min. Pressure, pressure, pressure. For mine this is what we had in round one, and have been lacking in the last two matches; thus the bad starts. Starting him in the midfield will set the tone for the match.

Okay - by that logic then he would be our 22nd option on Williams.

I'll but that :-D

I was exaggerating. :P

He would be our last plausible option on Williams, very unfair on the young bloke to throw him on a high-scoring forward first up, regardless of how potentially suitable given his athletic attributes.

We've got #32- Darren Goldspink (VIC), #18- Ray Chamberlain (VIC), #21- Simon Meredith (VIC) for the match. Fev will be glad that he isn't playing now he sees Chamberlain is umpiring, who else remembers last years Saints game

Yeah use Eddie in bursts, i went to last years game against the hawks and i remember Bateman killing us rebounding off the back half, he is a worry along with Hodge and Williams.

Indeed mikkey, unless Big Red is up forward, Carlos won't win the game for us, but he will chip in no doubt and he will give his all but we need to score. Maybe even Lappin up forward.

If we get the ball forward enough whoever is down there will kick a winning score. It's just getting the ball down there enough that's the problem

Tyrant, Ogie can play ok, he played it and rugby when he lived there, and it will be good to see if Setanta gets to line up at any point on one of Seán Óg's fave players Crawf. They were all hawk fans growing up. I dare say that might change tomorrow night. Fingers crossed for the right result

One Bradley Fisher may have something to say about the scoreboard. The mids have chipped in a bit the last few weeks, could be a surprising effort on the scoreboard if we clamp down on their mids. :)

Why do I think this is possible? They won't have ruck dominance like they did last week.
