I heard hawthorn are into Wellingham as well.

So the media story will be:

Wellingham to Hawthorn with his housemate

Or

Wellingham to Carlton with his housemate's cousin

A non Carlton supporting friend bet me breakfast the Cloke will sign with Carlton, said she'd heard something from someone in the know. Looks like free breakfast for me!

Some info i was given about Cloke today, that i believe to be accurate;

1. He has an offer from us, signed, sealed and delivered a number of weeks ago for exactly what he wants.
5 year term and contrary to public opinion, its not for $1mil per year, its less

2. He wants to stay at the Pies, but if he took our offer he would be $1.5mil better off, over the 5yr term, than what the Pies currently have on the table.

3. The Pies are under cap pressure big time, and if they match our offer at least 2, maybe 3 players will have to go.

He has a big decision to make, either way i see it as a win/win for us.

Outlandish prediction...

cloke will stay, no pies players will leave, and no one will say anything about 'gee, I wonder how they fit them all under the cap'

If we recruit Wellingdog it'll be the first time in decades of supporting Carlton that I'll
be hoping for someone in the Navy Blue to get cleaned up.

Wellingham is a good player. A few of our guys would learn something about running hard both ways from him.

If I simply added "we'll hutchy that's what my sources are saying" i could be the chief football writer at the age

Well my maths is kinda rusty, but your info suggest our offer is not $1 million per year but is still $300k per year better than the Pies. That either means the Pies are only offering about $600k or their only offering 4 years.

He'd be an idiot not to take the money. A couple of bad injuries in the first 4 years and suddenly you're getting offered $100k over the average salary and being told to be grateful for it.

Did you hope that Diesel Williams would get cleaned up every time he ran out to play for us?

We could be offering 850, they could be offering 550.
We could be offering 950, they could be offering 650.
It doesn't really matter.
I thought is had been put out there numerous times that he wants 5 years, not 4.

Its pretty simple really...if he was happy with their offer he would've signed.
As i said his pref is to remain a Pie, buts whats been put to him would make anyone consider their options.

There's already enough bullshit posted on this site.... i didn't set out to add to it with my post.

I'm satisfied that the info i was given is accurate, and plausible.
In fact i'll even PM you the name and relationship of that person to Cloke and you can follow it up yourself.

Thats exactly what I've been saying to my Filth mates.

"Haha, how are Carlton going to fit Cloke under the salary cap?"

"How are Collingwood going to?"

Looks of shock on their face, like its not something they've considered.

"You got Judd, Murphy, Gibbs"

"You got Pendles, Swan, Daisy, Ball, Beams, Sidebottom, all signed in the last 2 years"

"Carlton can't fit him in"
Then I just laugh at them.

No. I'm actually from Golden Square and played with Diesel ... but I guess that's besides the point.

Williams was a hard player, but fundamentally he played the ball. If he whacked someone it was because they had it coming. Of all the players he did whack, it's hard to think of anyone more deserving than Rhys-Jones.

Wellingdogs snipe on Simpson is a completely different matter. Simpson is one of the fairest and most courageous players in the league and didn't deserve to have his run of games broken that way. If Wellingdog had of got a decent sentence it might sit a little better, but he didn't and it doesn't.
