In all seriousness he is the type of player we should be going after.

Hadn't pegged him as a half back flanker, but if the club believes he can hold it down, it might be worth going after him.

I bet you are a riot at family get-together's with the....'Squeeze my finger gag' or the 'Fart sounds from under the armpits stic'.

Lucky there's always a new poster arriving on TC who hasn't heard atleast 1 of your 3 gags before. :smoking:

Your like the grumpy old uncle at one of those family get together, always good for a rise, and easy too.

You should give up the fags too, they're no good for you.

Sorry I'm going to move this to the recruitment pages to save hijacking this thread with trade bollocks.

How are we looking at this stage? Probably finish with pick 5 or 6. Gives us approx. 5-23-41-59-77. Not great unless we do some trading to get more or upgrades.

How many do we get rid of?

Bootsma
Scotland (Rookie)
Duigan

plus:

Lucas
Temay
Carrazzo (retire)

That's Five on the Senior List. I'm sure we want to get rid of more but how do we get quality in?

Question marks over Reynolds and Cachia as rookies.

Maybe trade Garlett? If we are realistic there isn't much else we can do. :?

If we can get the "Two Toms" this pre-season it would be right up there with Greg Williams and Earl Spalding pre-season 1992.

Both boys from port, either one or both of these boys would be a bonus...
Mason shaw 197cm key forward
Tom clurey 194cm key defender
Both drafted in 2012, pick 29 and 30..

Shaw has indicated he wants to go home to WA.

Waite has currency as a free agent. Especially as he decided to play his 1 in 5 good games last outing.
If he needs surgery, I'd put him in for it now before he comes out and does something stupid or plays a stinker. With several clubs looking for a marking 2nd/3rd tall, he'd have a few suitors IMO.

With his wage history and the desperation of a few clubs, I think we'd get reasonable compensation for him.

Waite has no currency as a free agent.

1. No contender will pay him good money - so that decreases compo
2. No one will offer him more than 2 years - decrease compo
3. He's 32 - age is a criteria of compensation.
They are the 3 criteria used to determine compo.

We'd be lucky to get the lowest band (band 4) of compensation which is a 3rd rd pick.

I think he has currency in the context of some of the lower clubs not only needing to pay 100% of the cap for the first time in ever, and having the AFL handouts to do so.

Team like St Kilda would pay overs for him just to satisfy that criteria. Possibly the Bulldogs also.

Adelaide will want him. They love Carlton players.

He's too old Rhino - not even close to the demographic either club is interested in.

It is a pick 38-42. I would take it, especially if we have done our homework. You could also trade our 2 third rounders for a low 2nd rounder. Do the deal

St Kilda would take him - if for nothing else, gives Riewoldt a chop out and a chance of him playing on in 2016, as well as protecting whichever tall forward they pick at the end of the year. Maister's already retired. Tom Lee will be delisted. They need someone like that.

Dogs aren't exactly flush for tall forwards coming through - like Redpath, but Jones and Grant aren't exactly setting the world on fire 5 seasons in.

Yep

Waites reputation outside of Carlton is quite reasonable. The Dogs or even Dockers would shell out decent coin for him. Mind you, I'd take a 3rd rounder anyway.

So his original 2 year deal plus the 1 year contract extension equals 3 years.

But for some of our smarter TCers who have only just graduated from the Cuisenaire coloured rods, the light green ones must have been stolen from their set.

A 32 year old with a history of injury and on field behaviour problems?
A player who has been dropped this year for form - by a team with, how many wins have we got?
You pair have redefined "optimistic" for me.
