I have personally been in a room whereby both men have been present (I have known T.E for 11 years) and have spoken to one another.

Ahhhhh but were talking about the president of the Carlton Football club here..

He once rocked up to training put his briefcase down... lifted his coat sleeve to check his watch... then turned around to me and asked.. "when do they start?"...

"I said they have been finished for 20 minutes..."

It was 5 oclock....

... board meeting......

Wouldnt have a clue on what time they train...

I have no issue with Tom Elliott running & I'd hate to think that he would be disadvantaged because of John. For the mess that John did put us in, we tend to forget the many, many years of success we had with him & you could never question his passion for the navy blue.

Tom Elliot is a very smart guy. on 3AW, Neil Michelle calls him "the guy who knows everything". Highly intelligent this bloke, would love to see him on the board.

Neil Mitchell is the sort of person who wouldn't think twice to slag off on Tom Elliott because of the connection to his father.

Dont have much time for Mitchell but credit too him for not having a dig in this way.

Would be too much for the likes of Caroline Wilson, Mike Sheahan, Patrick Smith etc and for that matter Demetrispew, Smorgan etc.

I would love Tom Elliot at the club.

I'm shore he is burning deep inside to put some respect back into the name Elliot. That and the fact that he is extremly succesful and a passionate Carlton supporter, will see us in good sted i believe.

Tom Elliot sounds like the right sort of person for the job, but I fear that his association with his father is going to cost too many votes.

Personally he has my vote, but my dad who doesn't follow the inner workings of the club very closely, reckons he certainly won't vote for an Elliot. I think I can talk him around but how many votes will the Elliot name cost?

It is imperative that Smorgon is outed at this election and I'd hate to see something as meaningless as family association torpedo this chance. Please, new ticket, cover all the bases.

IMO it is clever politics from Smorgon.

I'm only guessing but from reading between the lines the opposition ticket does not have the numbers to challenge for a full spill. They were hoping to get a couple of new members in March and ally with a section of the current board to install a new president.

Smorgon has realised this and after earlier making coaching changes to appease the Brown group he has now installed one or two Brown people on the board to further shore up support from this group, and the extra numbers make the plans of the shadowy third group more difficult.

Only speculation, but if I am far off the mark those in the know should be able to set me straight. 8)

its actually quite dumb...

he has allowed the board to be infiltrated by people that have loyalties not to him...
A couple are.. like the Spotlight dude.. who by all reports is a nice guy .
Harrison too...hes meant to be a good bloke..... but fancy being this dumb????
They will all have toi cop it in the clacker because of the association unless a deal is worked out and they jump ship ...
But then there are those 4 .. some of the Elliot /Brown /Mckaty group.. there is the DeLutis group and the board members that are valuable Lee and Newton.. then there is the board room mould... Sticks

So alot of heads and not that many hats when it comes down to it...

So who will make it on???

But how dumb are these blokes to accept an invitation to dance in the fire with Smorgon in a couple of months and told to raise money... who the hell is going to raise money when they might be out in 2 months???

Weird!!!
Dumb!!!!
Bizarre!!!!

Some of these guys actually overlap onto the Tom Elliot Andy McKay ticket....and have allegiances there.
And dont be surprised if they actually all join up with the DeLutis Grollo group with the AFL/NAB/big business names and corporates etc blessing.....

One thing is for sure.....Smorgon wont survive... either will Malouf and Rose and Wilson and Diggins will suffer from the fall out also i reckon...

Forgive my igorance here but are you refering to Spotlight as in the textile/craft type stores?

If so I dont care how nice the bloke is he need to go. I have had to deal with that chain over the last 6 1/2 years and their business practices are disgracefull. No @#$%&! wonder we are the laughing stock of the AFL at present

Thats just a naive comment. Who are you to say that these guys are incapable of injecting new money? How exactly do you know that?
Both Harrison and Moulton have excellent connections in the Business world. UNLIKE Smorgon, Harrison is a master networker. Graheme might know all the big names, but he wouldnt have a clue how to reel them in. Harrison does, its his job and its exactly how he has become so successful. He is well aware of the clubs desperate need for corporate support, and he knows exactly where to get it from, and how to get it. Give him a chance and im sure he'll tell you all about it...

Thanks WBY. I have as I said had the unfortunate luck to have had to deal with them over the last 61/2 years and the way they run their business is a sham. If people think the public service has a bad rep you should see these guys in inaction. They create work just for the sake of it.

One thing they would be good at would be player contract negotiations as they love to screw people but the problem is you'd probably never get an authorisation to start negotiations with them

Funny, I was under the impression that SHAGFAN or Adi was in Thailand. I don't think you'd go to thailand to spend time in internet cafes posting on here. So who are we talking to? Why are you so keen to defend Moulton and Harrison. Is this Adi's esteemed cousin?

They are such good negotiators because they have the power to do so...

Remember Spotlight is still a family business. The directors have made there money on sticking to there budget, and trying to minimise costs, but simultaneously expanding the business at the same time.... I think Carlton FC could learn a few things from them...

Are you kidding???? Spotlight makes money because EVERYTHING there is made in sweatshops in China and brought into this country on containers for next to nothing and then dumped on people who want things cheap..

What can we learn from this???

Maybe our merchandise will be exclusively made in China and sold for 300 times it's production cost to us supporters???

If this did happen I would hope the club would give us a free membership hat with our memberships due to the cheaper production prices. That would save me $5 and make the myself and other members happier!
